Re: Sync'ing Music FROM iPhone TO iMac

I¡¯m guessing that the songs on the iPhone were synced from iTunes/Music on the previous iMac but they weren¡¯t carried forward to the new iMac. Are there no backups of the older iMac?

If you need to rip CDs, it¡¯s actually pretty quick, generally around 10x playing speed.

My question is regarding syncing iPhone TO iMac, NOT iMac to iPhone.

Hi. My husband has accomplished something unusual. He has iPhone 8, iPad 2021 pro, iPad Air2, iMac 2024. His iPhone 8 & iPads are fully upgraded OS. His 24¡± M3 chip 2024 iMac. I do not know why, but his iPhone has 600+ different songs. Some are MP4 from old CDs purchased long ago. Some are digital Amazon, some are digital from the Apple iTunes store. SUPPOSEDLY all devices are sync¡¯ed via iCloud.

In checking his Finder, all the FILES are sync¡¯d but the music is only sync¡¯d from the iMac to the iPads. The Music on his iPhone is different from the other devices. He does not subscribe to Apple Music.

His iPads and iMac ONLY HAVE 250 songs. After exhausting a thorough on-line search for ¡°how to sync iPhone TO iMac¡±, nothing current could be found. So I phoned AppleCare. After lots of time, I was advised by senior advisor that our problem is not considered an ¡°issue¡± because "it doesn¡¯t happen¡±.

Other than connecting his iMac to an optical drive, and slowly uploading all the songs to the iMac¡¯s Music App, is there another way of sync¡¯ing the other devices to the iPhone music? I cannot figure out how he managed to do this. His former iMac was 2011, so he wanted a newer computer that would use apps he wanted on it. In setting up the new iMac, I discovered the discrepancy in the Music apps.

Thanks for your help.
