Assuming you are using IMAP and not POP, I would delete the offline account, then reinstall it.

So I left it overnight. This morning still wouldn¡¯t connect and Preferences wouldn¡¯t let me reset password.
So I went into the Hotmail website and reset the password for both accounts, and could read messages there.
When I went back to Mail, one account was on line but the other was still offline, and wouldn¡¯t connect even with the new password.
Now both accounts are again offline, and when I enter the new password I get a red incorrect message.
Any ideas what may be happening or what else I should try???
