I¡¯ve been using free email accounts, but I would be willing to pay for something more secure than Yahoo & Gmail.
If you have limited amounts of e-mail and you want a free service (they aren¡¯t free if you get a lot of e-mail), check out:
Proton Mail
(encrypted, based in Switzerland)
Tutanota
(very secure encrypted e-mail)

If you don¡¯t mind paying a reasonable fee, these are the folks that I use, and they are awesome:
ICDSoft
For $96/year I get all of the bells and whistles and great 24/7 service! (Support is via a dedicated Web portal. Answers arrive in less than 10 minutes no matter when you ask them! However, there is no telephone support.) A huge amount of Web space, unlimited e-mail addresses and e-mail hosting, the facility to quickly and easily set up e-mail discussion lists, etc. Renewal of my domain name only costs $8.38. They never seem to experience any down time.
