Does it still block people who want to contact you? Fortunately everyone I know who was ever on Earthlink has left it. Has anything changed?

This is a bit off topic. ?Does anyone have recommendations for good email service providers? ?For email clients, I use Apple Mail, while my husband accesses his via a browser most of the time. ?Every once in a while he has issues logging into his yahoo account, and their account verification process is not straightforward. ?For example, when I helped him this morning, it sent a verification code but it timed out before I could open the verification email ID, read the message, and go back to the other tab to enter it. ?He had gone through the same time out, but missed seeing the countdown. ?I wasn¡¯t very slow doing that either when it timed out on me. ?He is paying $5 a month now. ? I¡¯ve been using free email accounts, but I would be willing to pay for something more secure than Yahoo & Gmail. ?I considered doing this in the past, but the thought of changing all online accounts to the new address was daunting.
i looked at a couple ¡°best email providers in 2023¡± articles but lately I¡¯ve gotten the impression that such articles are just ADs. ?One article¡¯s top suggestion was Proton Mail. ?I see that¡¯s based in Switzerland so I¡¯m wondering about how good that service would be here in the USA. ?I¡¯d?appreciate any recommendations. ?It would help if they provide good support.
