Changing the OS with a new SD card will fix your issue, but not necessarily due to the OS change, but more the fact you changed the SD card, which will last again,... for a while. uSD or SD card i/o issues occur on areas of the storage effecting certain programs more than others, not using the same memory sectors. An OS or cpu issue would effect all similar programs the same like wsjtx with FLdigi which you state behaved different.
