I should mention also there is a new Debian release called Bookworm. There is also a Pi version of that, but I've not tried it yet so can't say how well it worked. I tend to stay away from brand new releases. Bullseye is what I'm using here.

Pi-OS is a version of Debian for the Raspberry Pi. It's very much a linux distro. Download it from the Raspberry Pi site to a SD and it will come up and lead you through the setup. You can get a 32bit or 64bit. I like the 64bit personally. Using the installer you'll see other OSs optimized for the Pi also.

Yes, it sounds like a display issue. Ubuntu was not designed for a limited system like the Pi so what ever changes were made to let it run apparently are not handling something correctly. What caused it I don't know, but if I was you I would get another SD card and install the 64bit Pi OS and set that up. It won't have the same feel as Ubuntu, but it will run better. Ubuntu has a lot more display processing going on than Pi-OS. If you want a system that just runs and may not have all the eye candy give Pi-OS a try.?On Nov 27, 2023, at 06:47, sdegroff, W8SRD via

Interesting... if the fldigi is running and the terminal is opened full screen, hiding fldigi screen, system run as it should. Must be something clobbered in display routines, as everything else running ok. Unfortunately, uninstall --purge and reinstall did not fix the slow mouse and display update issue.
