Re: Possible new breakfast meeting place - Bill Miller BBQ

The Bill Miller location looks like a good possibility for
a meeting place. Agree, disagree or don't care?????

IHOP would be OK, but not good for visiting and BS.

Tnx Greg for the discussion.

Jack, KB5TXS suggested that we look for an alternative breakfast location. Kathy and I stopped in to Bill Miller BBQ (corner of Lakeline and 1431).? We talked with the manager about having 10-20 people for breakfast. Here's what we found out:

- They have pancakes, eggs, bacon, tacos, but not waffles.? Check out their breakfast menu at this link:

- If you are eating there, you just pick up a tray and go through the line to place your order.

- We asked if the coffee was good. The manager does not drink coffee, but said that they have many customers come in only for the coffee.

- They open at 6:00 am on Saturday and should have plenty of seating with high ceilings to cut down on noise.

- They do NOT offer a military discount.

- We saw no visible roaches or water puddles on the floor!

?

Check it out and let the group know if you have any other suggestions.? J&J's is going downhill. Today was particularly bad for roaches and water puddles in the back room. There has been little maintenance or updates. It may be time for a change.

April 2019 Hambuds Business Meeting

There was a good turnout for breakfast on Saturday, April 13.
?
Greg, WB5GM, as acting Treasurer, reported that we have $1260.33 in the bank bag. Greg suggested that we all consider what we might do with the available funds. Yearly expenses usually include the cost for Park rental (~ $165) and food (~ $100) for Field Day, and the cost for electricity at Lago Vista (~ $180).
?
Greg, as Secretary, announced that Larry Martin, K7JQL, offered to be the new Treasurer. He was elected by voice vote.
?
Ron Baldwin, AE5WW, was elected as our new President by a show of hands and Sharon Sarles, KF5RIH, was elected as Vice President.?
?
Greg, offered to continue as Secretary and was re-elected to that position by voice vote.
?
Tim McReynolds, KG5FWB, has volunteered to be our CIO/Webmaster and is working with Alan, KE5TNO to move the hambuds.com and hambuds.org websites to a different server.? The KE5TNO Echolink station is currently off the air.
?
Greg reminded attendees to sign up at Groups.io to be put on the e-mailing contact list. We are migrating to Groups.io and away from the Hambuds Yahoo Group.
?
Thank you all for volunteering. And thanks to Bob Ripley, W5EMC, for his service to the Hambuds as President from the early days. I think we should give him the title of President Emeritus.
?
Jimmy, KC5WLF and Ron, AE5WW remain as board members since they are trustees of Hambud's repeaters.
?
Jack, KB5TXS, raised the issue of needing to find a new breakfast place.? We are looking for a local Cedar Park breakfast restaurant that can accomodate 15-20 people on Saturday morning and opens at 6:00-6:30 am. If you have any ideas, let us know.
?
Brad, KA5GCB announced that his friend Bob WD5BNB is going to have heart surgery on April 23rd and requested that we pray for him.
?
Leonor asked about Field Day plans. We have reserved the Wilco SW Regional Park again this year. Jimmy advised that Danny N5DRG suggested that he and others wished to join us for Field Day using N5A as a call sign. It seemed that the consensus of the group was that all hams were welcome to join us. That sentiment had also been relayed to Larry, WB5BEK and Chris, KD5GIK at the Georgetown Swapfest.
?
Our new President, Ron, raised the possibility of the club purchasing his spare Yaesu repeater and accessories as a potential replacement repeater. This topic will be further discussed in a committee meeting for possible presentation to the club for a vote.
?
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
?
Thank you to the following individuals who have contributed dues/donations for 2019:
Jack T. Jim H. John P.
Mike H. Greg M. Jimmy B.
Ron B. Bob R. Leonor W.
Tim L. Brad J. Robt. P. (Al's tool sale)

2019 Hambuds Business Meeting - Migration to Groups.io

It's time for Hambuds elections. We have some current and pending officer vacancies. If we have a good number at breakfast on Saturday, we will elect some new officers.? Potential candidates are:
?
Ron Baldwin - AE5WW - President
?
??? - Vice President - Any volunteers among the breakfast regulars?
?
Greg Miller - WB5GM - Secretary
?
Larry Martin - K7JQL - Treasurer
?
?
Also, we want to migrate our Hambud contact method and membership list to Groups.io.? This Yahoo group email list is not current and requires that announcements be made using multiple other emails. If you want to be kept informed of Hambuds activities, please sign up at the new groups.io website.
?
- From a browser - go to groups.io
?
- Click on Find a group - type in hambuds
?
- Set up your password and email preferences
?
We will leave up the Yahoo group for a period of time, but will eventually stop communicating through that groups emails.
?
Please bring any other new or old business concerns to the meeting on Saturday.
?
73, Greg
