Re: Question for Foodies and Cooks
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHeya Tim,San Saba has always been known as the ¡°Pecan Capitol of the world¡±. ?I personally love the Choctaw variety of Pecans because they are big and have a paper shell. ?I¡¯ve got 2 in my backyard but I never seem to get to enjoy any of them because the squirrels go NUTS over them. ? 73, Tommy Taylor, WD5EMS Sent from my?iPhone 16 Pro Max On Nov 27, 2024, at 9:14?PM, Tim N5TML via groups.io <tim.n5tml@...> wrote:

Re: Question for Foodies and Cooks
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýTim, I like Berdoll's on 71 before you get to Bastrop. They have
several varieties, I prefer Kiowa.? They have lots of whole
pecans, cracked pecans, shelled pecans and pieces.? Jellies, gift,
etc.? As well as pecan pies - you can buy a pecan pie from the
vending machine any time day or night.? What a wonderful world we
live in!? I bought 20 lbs of cracked Kiowas this week @ $75/10 lb.? Fresh
pecans are a huge step up from store bought in taste and
appearance.? Their cracked ones are pretty easy to peel with lots
of complete halves (pie pecans!).

Question for Foodies and Cooks
Hello, Hambuds!
?
?? Hope you all are doing well.? I've heard that one community northwest of Austin is the self-declared pecan capitol of Texas, (perhaps San Saba?).? Are there places around town to buy these locally-grown pecans?? Also, what are the best variety (ies) of pecans for cooking?
?
? Or, Where is the best place to buy pecans and walnuts??
?? Or, Do you all just buy whatever is in the local grocery store?
?
Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving holiday and weekend!!? Hope to see you all at the Christmas Gathering on Dec. 7!!

New rules for Winter Field Day 2025
Hi, Hambuds!
?
?? The Winter Field Day organization had made changes to the rules and multipliers.? The biggest change is that the event runs for 30 hours instead of 24, starting at 10:00 CST on Saturday, Jan. 25 and ending? one minute before 4:00 CST (3:59) on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2025.? So, if we operate from the park as a group, we will need to set up right after breakfast.? Or, if we all operate from home, leave breakfast in time to warm up your station and get ready to rumble.? :-)
?
?? I am attaching the 2025 rules and infomation for your convience.? Please read this if you are planning to operate or help the club during Winter Field Day.
?
Have a nice weekend!? 73,
Tim L.

Re: Winter Field Day 2025
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Tim and everyone, I just got back from a long weekend at Big Bend Ranch State Park so am only now getting to respond to this. I would like to operate and I can provide a donation as well to
pay for the pavilion.?? I don't mind staying overnight (I will need to sleep :-) ) but I need to come up with something that is acceptable to the park and does not involve my sleeping in my car again :-) Thanks and 73, Marc On 11/6/24 17:19, Tim N5TML wrote:
