Tim,

I like Berdoll's on 71 before you get to Bastrop. They have several varieties, I prefer Kiowa.? They have lots of whole pecans, cracked pecans, shelled pecans and pieces.? Jellies, gift, etc.? As well as pecan pies - you can buy a pecan pie from the vending machine any time day or night.? What a wonderful world we live in!?

I bought 20 lbs of cracked Kiowas this week @ $75/10 lb.? Fresh pecans are a huge step up from store bought in taste and appearance.? Their cracked ones are pretty easy to peel with lots of complete halves (pie pecans!).

San Saba is known for pecans, as is Seguin.? There is a great pecan orchard by Lake Brownwood? we used to buy from when we traveled to Brownwood frequently.? But Berdoll's is much closer.

After eating fresh pecans I pass by the HEB pecans for other nuts.? No comparison.? But I usually plan to have fresh pecans all year.? They stay good until cracked, so I buy a couple months of freshly cracked ones at a time.

Hello, Hambuds!
?
?? Hope you all are doing well.? I've heard that one community northwest of Austin is the self-declared pecan capitol of Texas, (perhaps San Saba?).? Are there places around town to buy these locally-grown pecans?? Also, what are the best variety (ies) of pecans for cooking?
?
? Or, Where is the best place to buy pecans and walnuts??
?? Or, Do you all just buy whatever is in the local grocery store?
?
Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving holiday and weekend!!? Hope to see you all at the Christmas Gathering on Dec. 7!!
