As for what Leigh said (repeated below) -- Leigh, you misspelled a word.? It should be "belittling" and not "befitting."

This group has ALWAYS allowed off-topic posts and ad-hominem posts.? That's what kept us all so focused on technology.? Remember what Robert Heinlein said:? "An armed society is a polite society. Manners are good when one may have to back up his acts with his life."

In every case I can remember, whenever a stupid asshole showed up here, it was self-correcting.? They left of their own accord.?

And frequently, when uninformed but open-minded people showed up, they stayed long enough to get their answers, and then left.? I confess that I sent a lot of private emails to newbies who got a spanking, telling them that this is the way it works here and that they should just hang in there.? I suspect that I was not alone in doing this.?

In my book?? Censors should be censured.? Then they need an orchidectomy to prevent or at least mitigate such further escapes from our US Constitutional norms.? Should the knife slip and cut off the wrong part, or especially the wrong head, then so be it.

I take your point that we shouldn't be hurling abuse at each other but do we really need someone like (as Carl described him) King George III watching and judging our comments?? Who watches the watchers and judges the judges?? I respect other people but I don't respect their self-appointed "right" to authority over me.
We're all grown up blokes who've been around the tracks.? We're not like the precious little snowflakes at British universities who need their "safe space" and feel traumatised by anyone who holds opinions outside their world view.

Personally I prefer freedom.

If someone is rude to you, then tell them to "awa' and bile yer heid" as my colleagues in Aberdeen would have said.

Used to be post turned up almost immediately, now they take up to hours.
This is the third post I've made and nothing has shown up yet.
The problem is probably Yahoo's server hosting Ham Amps?.? Sometimes I never see my posts,? but there are answers that contain the original.
I never did get my account to work on towertalk after it failed.

As has been said, traffic may be slow, but it's not dead.
I notice many of the newsgroups are a bit slow as of late.? Social media?

What I? like about Ham Amplifiers is that it isn't moderated, or wasn't.?? People can say what they want and let the chips fall where they may and I see none of the sickening Political correctness.

I was trying to help some beginners on FB, but those moderators would pull a post if someone was offended. It was a group with abysmal knowledge and knowledgeable old timers. It reminded me of the students I was teaching while working on my masters.? Two groups with almost nothing in common and an inability to understand each other.? If they answered using terms any of us could understand many would complain about the so called experts. OTOH the newbies didn't know enough to even ask for what they needed to know, so they'd get offended when someone would ask for a clarification.
The moderators were the typical. politically correct, "don't hurt anyone's feelings"

I gave up.

Well if there's interest I'll write info on mods done to my 922 and planned mods for my original AL-80 (no "A" or "B").

What I witness is:

Posts to the amps group do not appear. Try sending a test post to amps and see what happens and report back.

One gets used to it Leigh.? Problem is, the person/people that raised the most hate and discontent here, were those we learned of a lot of useful (And sometimes worthless!) information.

Seriously as you well know, one can always leave the group if it gets too heavy.? I do know what you are saying about moderation…one must realize it is a fine line between being heavy handed in moderation or knowing when to ‘let it ride’, knowing the subject will die out in short order.? I walk that line in several of my groups, and candidly, it is a rare occurrence that I have had to step in and say “HOLD ON!”.
