"Mia and Del are used to the usual sort of anti-mutant attention we get from some of the norms, but this Mr. Gray of your sounds like he's got a special thing on for you.? The red-haired girl looked thoughtful behind her goggles even as her fingers continued to busy themselves with the controls.? "I can help if anyone gets close enough for me to touch them.? Unless they're wearing some kind of body suit that covers all of their skin."

"And I think Mia and Del have friends they can call on to handle the more, you know, intense situations.? But there is one student here you might want to get to know.? His name's Roddy." If you feel we should invite him over and you are up for having the company, then yes, we will do as you wish." He said as they entered the furniture store to find Bridgett helping Lily with cleaning some of the newer items that her husband had just finished making.

Just so they can be prepared for any, you know, legal issues that might pop up." She grinned as she swerved to respond to something her goggles were showing her.? "They're good at that kinda stuff."

A few girls too, if that's your thing.? I mean, me, I haven't hooked up with anyone in the few weeks I've been here, but it's nice to know that possibilities exist." The redhead made a face.? "There are the norms, of course.? But sooner or later they glom onto the fact that we're different.? And I hate having to keep it all hush-hush just 'cause it might freak some people out."

Once the panel raised, he gave a small warning, "the lights will come on in a moment." Sure enough, the inside of the van lit up with red lights, providing enough light for them to see one another and the three other vampires that were in the van with them.

"To another safe house. Do you know anything about the attack? What of the prisoner I sent you to question?" He asked annoyed that this was happening.

Scarlett MacAleister

Scarlett shook her head, "She's in the wind. Hollywood went in ahead of me, said she could soften her up, maybe get her to talk. She was in the room just a couple minutes when everything happened, and she managed to escape in the chaos."

The shapely redhead looked at the other three vampires and felt a little concerned. She was not generally liked among her kind and these three, along with Vespasian could have any agenda going on she was not privy to.?

"I'm willing to help protect you, your majesty," Scarlett said. "Or, if I'm not wanted here I can arrange to be dropped at a safehouse of mine and have my associate pick me up from there. I could also search for the assassin and those who attacked the Midnight Society while you move to a secure place."

She knew if they needed to part ways with her, they'd have to do it before they arrived at the safehouse he was going to, otherwise she'd be a liability if released.?

IN the back of her mind she hoped Snow was following the tracker in her phone. Everything had happened so fast, Scarlett didn't like being cut off from her friends and weapons.

Del looked up as Mia entered the office. "Oh! Hi. I was just coming to look for you," She stood and gave Mia a quick hug and a playful neck nuzzle. "I've been doing some checking on a couple of prospects for new students at the Academy. We can go over them now, if you've got a moment." She pointed to three folders spread out on the desk.

Mia gave her love a smile and kissed her before letting Del start talking business. "Well, just so happens that I also have a new prospect. He should be in the store as we speak." She said before getting herself a cup of coffee and then sitting down at the desk. "So, yes, let me learn what you have learned and then I will tell you all about Gen."

Gen tensed when Akira slipped his arm around Gen's shoulders, confused by the gesture. Did it mean anything? Or was it just a casual platonic gesture that a normal person would make to a new acquaintance? Why did it have to feel so good? The androgyne just wanted to melt into the embrace, to increase the amount of bodily contact, to soak up the warmth he could feel coming through the thin garments they were wearing. And Akira's off-hand comments about "stuff for showering" and "help you with clothing" were, however innocent, stirring fantasies in his head. But the signals he had picked up earlier had made him think that the other boy wasn't "that way".??

Walking into the store prompted Gen to focus again. He knew that he'd been given some kind of credit with the store and so could actually purchase some things, so he started paying attention to the clothes on display. And on the toiletries he might possibly need. "Does this look good?" he asked, looking at a combination of green pants and orange shirt that caught his eye. "And does this stuff make you smell good?" he asked, picking up a bottle of strawberry-scented shampoo from a nearby shelf. "I want to, you know, smell good," he said, looking self-consciously to Akira for his opinion.

Akira kind of chuckled at Gen with the color choices, "um....not together, but sure those colors are good. Maybe a black or white top with the green pants and blue jeans or something like a brown for pants for the orange shirt." He suggested. "How do you normally dress?" He asked curiously as he moved to the strawberry scented shampoo. "Sure, it makes a girl's hair smell good. But you don't come across as someone who would like to smell like fruit."

Then she headed towards her office, as she went she looked for her love, Del, to see what the other woman was up to and if she found any lost souls while in her earlier wanderings.

Most of the time, if there was anything I needed, I had to scrounge around for it.? It's amazing what some people will toss out.? I've got a bunch of stuff back at the lighthouse that I found going through trashcans and dumpsters."

"There'll probably be books and stuff that I'll need, yes?" he asked.? "Will the store have, like, a list I can go by, for the courses and stuff?? And I'm guessing I'll need a laptop too, maybe? And what about clothes?? I have what I've got on, and stuff I've scrounged, but I don't know what's good or appropriate." He glanced at Akira uncertainly.? "Can you help me with that?"

Somehow, the redheaded vampire felt more at ease when Diego was with them, despite his true nature, for after he left, she became slightly fearful of what might be ahead for she and Vespasian. Someone was gunning for the prince's head and Scarlett truly didn't want to be the vampire charged with his safety. If something happened, she would be an easy scapegoat, especially with Tempest lurking about somewhere -- possibly behind this entire plot.

She also was not happy to be unarmed. She'd checked her weapons at the front door, but to go there now just to retrieve them would be dangerous, either from running into the would-be assassins or dealing with the possibly of daylight getting into the no longer safe building.

Scarlett turned to Vespasian and nodded, then together they headed down into an underground passage which would take them to the parking garage where the van awaited them.

They moved along the dimly lit concrete tunnel which travelled beneath the street outside the Midnight Society. If she had her bearings right, she remembered there was a private underground parking deck there. Apparently, this answered the question about who owned that facility.? ?

Eventually they reached a door and stepped through, Scarlett going first to have a look around. Once she peeked out, she was a black delivery van parked there running in the underground portion of the parking ramp. The van was running, the door open, the windows otherwise darkened out.

"Get in!" the man at the wheel called to them. "We need to hurry."

The redhead looked toward the prince, "Are you ready to go?"
