Re: 2-4-4-0 static roundhouse kitbash
Weathering..

This was assembled in haste at the dawn of my model railroading and I assembled the split axles wrong and locked them into the frame before I noticed. A couple of pics attached..... To salvage the model I weathered her as used yet still operable after some needed repairs. I used the alternating application of ordinary spray primer black and primer red fogged lightly for a look of a lokie that had seen a lot of use, yet wasn't completely ready for scrapping yet. A simple method yet effective. Even all these years later I remember how much fun it was to get the project this far. I think I'll return to completing it in the scene I had in mind for her. It's supposed to be on rails that vanish into tall grass with some abandoned rail cars scattered nearby, all in weeds with a hint of ballast and rails buried in the field of grass and brush. Best to ya... Mike Bauers Milwaukee, Wi, USA On Sep 10, 2013, at 11:01 AM, Sean Naylor <a69mustang4me@...> wrote:

Re: 2-4-4-0 static roundhouse kitbash
Thats pretty cool Kent. Only wethering advice I could give would be to study some old photos or new photos of old locomotives and try to duplicate some (not all) of the key weathering points.? "Some (not ALL)" means that in the case of weathering, often less is more! ?There are also articles and web page blogs available to see some examples. Just google it.? ? I think any of us who are self-employed or work in the food industry know exactly the feeling. Add working in some retail occupations to that... Time off(if any) is for model trains!

WTB: Tenshodo and Mantua Parts
I would to find or buy a Mantua 1952 version of the Pacific that's a Reading version boiler complete with all details and a 2 wheel trailing truck. Next, I need a piston rod with cross head, screw and spacer for a Tenshodo "Baldwin" 0-6-0T for the left side. (has square tanks).

The first is the current offerings, you might try the second for older drawings. Nathan Rich On Aug 31, 2013 9:16 AM, "Fred Hultberg" <fhultberg@...> wrote:
