¿ªÔÆÌåÓýOne of the things I learned early on ¨C like back in the 80s ¨C is that while the TX802 claims to be a rack DX, it¡¯s not exactly. In about 1988, the Yamaha Marketing nobs came out with patches to compete with the new Roland D50 and they were handing them out.? Glassy, breathy, wooden¡ that kinda stuff.? Very cool and new for FM. Whether operator timing or envelope velocity or others, the patches would not translate to DX.? Maybe it was out on the edges of the functions, but it wouldn¡¯t sound anything like the 802.? Lots of other stuff was plenty close, but most of these were not.? I dunno.? Trouble is, some of these are my absolute faves and are indispensible even today. So dumping the 802, which I¡¯ve considered many times ¨C I run my pair in even/odd mode ¨C hasn¡¯t worked in a simple manner that I¡¯ve found. ? L. ? I'm looking at Dexed, Arturia's DX7 V, and Korg's new OPsix Native, a soft version of their OPsix.? The latter two have friendlier interfaces and effects, but the 'tech-iness' of Dexed doesn't really scare me, and I have plenty of effects in my digital mixer.? Are there others I should look at?? Specifically, I'm interested in any experience with:
