FC-40 on boat

1. I'm going to mount an FC-40 on my 40' so will need a long control
cable-- any helpful suggestions?

2. I'm hoping to use an SCS PactorIII TNC with my Yaesu 857D-- any
suggestions on using this TNC and FC-40 at the same time?
