I don't think it is possible to do a partial reset to retain memories. You can do a reset to delete memories, but retain settings, but not the other way around. Time to get out a pencil and paper and note down memories methinks.

Hi Andy,
I haven’t done a reset yet, but I wanted to do a partial reset, but I’m not sure how to do that just yet as I want to keep the memories I have just put in manually. Thanks for your advice.
I did wonder if maybe if this was a Japanese or an American import and that’s why it didn’t transmit and went out of band error. that was my thoughts!!! Good shout on the TX out of band, but I did check every single setting and could not find anything
associated with anything like that. But you never know?
?
Hi Jeff,?
normally shows error when trying to tx out of band as you say.?
Have you done a reset, that quite often cures things.?
Power off, FAST and LOCK? held in, power on. See if that cures it.
It may be set for duplex to an out of band tx frequency.
Andy
I’m not sure about the question you are asking me I have put this frequency in the title and in the message 160 m and?80 m. The error appears across the screen as if it was out of band as it would, if you were trying to transmit out of band. Whereas 160 m and
80 m are not out of band. This only happens if I were to try and TX.?
?
More information needed.?
Where does it show error?
On what frequencies?
Hi, I have just received a ft847 and I have noticed it does not work and shows error as if it was out of band on 160m and 80m. Please can somebody advise.?

Re: Distorted audio signal on shortwave (rx!)
I have always used an extension speaker with my 847, far bettwer quality. Leighton. GW3FSP.

Re: Distorted audio signal on shortwave (rx!)
I found the solution:
the internal speaker is "a kind of" defect.
By pluging in an external speaker, no distortions are there.
Thank you all for helping me.
I have another problem with that trcv but I will open a new
thread if I find nothing in the archive...

@Spence: well great Idea!
I will record a video and upload it to youtube. Then I share
the link here...
It takes a couple of days since I am in
vacation now.
@Andy, I speak about low frequencies (ca.
300 ... 800 Hz) and not low volume.
The effect can be shown by putting a sound generator at the
input of the TDA and wobble the frequency then...
I'll be back after my holidays...

Can I please inject a suggestion.....?
Make a short video and post it on YouTube as private for
those with a link so we can all see the issue.

De Spence M0STO?
Sent while portable! please
excuse typos.
When you say "at low audio frequencies", do you mean
low frequencies, or low AF Gain on front panel?
I think there may be a translation problem.

Re: Discriminator Meter Off Center
Max, Yes, I was looking at one of those Kuhne electronic QH40A Cyrstal heaters something like you have. I was worried about the trimmer also being a problem,? so thought kill 2 birds with one stone on the TCXO. Sure I will do one or the other, I can get a TCXO for $12 total so that would be the cheapest route.

Re: Discriminator Meter Off Center
I installed one of these on X1001 crystal
Works quite well.

Re: Discriminator Meter Off Center
Thanks, that did the trick changed L 26-28 and H 33-36. Rig if on freq adjusted it on UHF with my IFR-1200S so within about 10hz. The variable not the best. Think I will put in a TCXO next.

Re: Discriminator Meter Off Center
Correct ? Make sure everything is on frequency first! ? 73 ? Andrew ?

Discriminator Meter Off Center
Hello, I just got my first FT-847 a week ago. I notice the discriminator always pulls to the left even with no signal. I did adjust the ref osc as it was off freq a bit. Looks to be about 900hz off. I looked through the service manual briefly but didn't see a way to center it. Thanks? K9CZ
