Hi there

Hi folks, welcome to the ' new ' 847 group, hopefully all the files, photo's and message archive will be transferred as Russ ( N4MAV ) gets them done, please be patient.

Group Moderator.

Introductions

Russ

Good Afternoon Everyone,
First let me welcome you to the group.? I will be uploading the files here in the next day or two as I go thru them to get rid of the duplicates.

My name is Russ Abbey, N4MAV and I live in the mountains of Virginia.? Actually South Western Virginia.? I've been here now for about 22 years and have 12 acres of land to play in....er work in.? I have enough wires enough to wrap the whole property and am hoping to be able to do so this cool weather we have had.? I am also in the process of putting up two towers.? One is a 40 foot Rohn 25 and the other one will be Rohn 45 and have I hope 130 feet but I think that may be to much for my climber to work with though.? And since he is a volunteer well I have to please him.?
I own mostly Yaesu equipment, FT-847, FT-2000D, FTM400DR (X=2), FT-736r (6,2,220, 440), FT-8800 (X=2), Icom 706M2G, TYT-9800 1-1/4 meter band (X=2), various HT's and a whole lot of test equipment I am learning to use.?

I was medically retired from the US. Navy in 1988 with sever back injuries so I had to have a hobby I could and can use daily.? So I became a ham and have not looked back.? Since I have a very short time I can be at my desk anymore it takes me a whole lot longer to do things and also keep up with the house and property.??
So there ya go.? Oh, I also have 5 and 10 GHz transverters I have yet to build, but that will be this winter.

Hi All,
I just uploaded all of the files from the Yahoo group.? Now for the sticky part.? I have to limit the size of files that are uploaded to the board so at present members can view and download (I hope set that right) and you can upload a file but it will have to be approved by the moderators.? Thank you all for signing up, you understanding, and showing your interest in the FT-847!

Hi Russ
?
I have moved to .IO, I will need to be designated a Moderator presumably.
?
I might remove some of the files I think I've sent in if they are old ones.

You all ready are Leighton. :)? Did it yesterday and uploaded the files also.? I have made it so that only you and I for now can upload files to the files section after we make sure they are not duplicates.? We're sitting at about 900 megs of data in there so we'll need to keep a tight rein on them.

Coax 144Mh 12V ?

Hi all,
I do not have 12V voltage measured at the output of the 144 Mhz socket behind the ft-847.
Menu # 29 is activated on "Ant".
The same measurement on 430 Mhz with menu # 30 on "Ant" gives 12V.
It seems that a transistor does not work anymore.
An idea to look for?
Jerome f8aof

Re: Coax 144Mh 12V ?

Looking at the circuit diagram available here? ? ?

?

Check voltage at J4003 pin 5. This feeds in to Q4011, that then turns on Q4010, which goes via L4030 to antenna socket. I would guess L4030 would act like a fuse, suggest you try volts each side of that as first step.

Hello All.

New to this group. Just purchased an 847. Haven't had a Yaesu in a while & wanted another that I could afford to buy!
73 to All & best wishes for a MXHNY to everyone who celebrates those holidays!

Welcome Mike and thanks for passing on your greetings.? Good to have you here and there is enough talent here to answer or research most problems with the FT-847.

73 and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and other holidays?

Hi Mike

?

I have just replaced my Yaesu 847 with another rig after having owned it since the early 90’s without any problems.? It is a venerable rig that’s for sure.? I can help to an extent with any issues.

Thanks Joe!
I've had to downsize here to one small corner of bedroom & the attraction was HF/VHF/UHF in one box!
Will keep the group posted on my results when rig arrives from Germany!
Just for interest, I knew VE3NO when he was a near?? neighbour in Auckland, not sure if he is still around though.

Just checked VE3NO and don’t recognize the name.? I only moved to Ontario in 2008 from the NWT.? I used to have my 847 connected to a microkeyer 2 for the digital modes.? A lot easier and Better(?) than making my own interfaces which I did before I got the mk2.

FT847 Memory manager

HI ALL,
I what windows app to manage FT847 memories.

I would like to be able to manage above all the FT847 memories and the SAT memories with the SAT TAGs: 12 are little and I wanted to be able to have a couple of MEM pack for the SATELLITE memories.
I tried to do something but couldn't find a complete list of available CAT controls for the FT847.

Thanks for the infos.

Franco

Re: FT847 Memory manager

Hi Franco

If you are looking to connect a microham microkeyer to the 847, I have a DB39 cable for the FT847 that I am willing to sell, as?I am not using my 847 at the moment. The microkeyer is a very good addon to the 847, particularly since the radio does not have USB connectivity. You can check out the microkeyer at www.microham.com.

Contact me off list at joe at laferla dot ca.
