Re: No S meter reading
Do a reset on radio first before finding a fault that may not exist. VFO knob is removed by turning radio upside down, look at shuffle jog, there is a slot in it. Use small Allen Key, about 1.5mm or 2mm and there is grubscrew in main knob. On Tue, 22 Aug 2023 at 13:55, Jaime Eloy <cu3ak@...> wrote:

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýSounds like a cable problem. ?? Hello Spence,
This is results of the continuity measurements. I measured continuity between pins 7 and 8 at the bottom of the mic and it tested OK. so the mic itself is good. I then measured pins 7 and 8 from the cord going to the base and the end that goes to the mic and no reading. When I measure pins 7 and 8 in the cord that goes to the phone jack to the radio I get no reading. I tried with the PTT off and down with the same results (radio off)) Regarding the mic gain I followed your instructions with no results (transmits but no audio) Thank You, Steven/kc3dow |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýAll you have to do is turn the microphone on, you will find a switch underneath on the base. Some radios it will work on both of us. It will only work on position one or position two.?Sent from Jeff M0UHF?

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýSorry forgot to ask if you have tried shouting into the mic in SSB.?? Also the shield/ground wire is between the mic element and the internal cabling. Re: No audio in Yaesu MD-100A8X Microphone and yaesu md-100 A8X
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi, Steven,? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?I¡¯ve had a few MD100¡¯s and they have a common failing. The shield wire drops off and you lose microphone ground (not to be confused with signal ground on pin 5). The actual mic is wired to Pin 8 and pin 7. Check continuity between pin 7 as this is the shield wire and microphone ground. ? First you normally get an annoying hum with your audio that eventually becomes no audio. ?This may or not be your problem but I¡¯ve got a genuine brand new mic element here that was bought because I misdiagnosed the element as faulty when it was actually the mic shield/ground wire. ? Also remember the FT847 has an option to have the FM mic gain on the front knob or from a present in the display. The MD100-ADX has really poor gain in my experience. ?Menu 25 FM-Pset. Turn that up to max for testing (level from off to 0 to 63) and also the front mic gain obviously if this is set to off. ? I hope this helps. De Spence M0STO? No audio in Yaesu MD-100A8X Microphone and yaesu md-100 A8X
Steven KC3DOW
I have a Yaesu MD-100A8X microphone connected to a Yaesu FT-847 radio and when I press the PTT the radio shows a carrier going out and the carrier is being seen by all parties but no audio. Through the repeater.. ? I don¡¯t think the problem is in the radio because when I connect the hand microphone it works OK. ? I have no idea how to troubleshoot this but I am a quick learner. I replaced the mic. To radio cord but I still have the problem. ? Thanks, Steven/kc3dow Note. I posted this on the other ft-847 group thinking it was here. It seems that I was not a member of this group. |

Re: FT 7200 yx band
The USA frequency settings may extend the 40m band, if not just live with the full extension and you will also get 60M

FT 7200 yx band
Hi All.
I bought some years ago FT847. Rig is ok and good condition. Some years ago at OH we got extension to 7 MHZ. Here is allowed now up to 7200 kHz, and rsdio can transmit up to 7100 kHz. I have running around web and only mod I found to make it transmit full HF? bands. I dont want to that, just missing 100 kHz. Any Ideas ?? 73s de rami,oh6bi |
Re: FT-847 power switch
For what it's worth... I did what is shown in the video years ago, paralleling the contacts and adding a 0.01 uf cap. It's pretty easy as the front panel tips down. Never had a problem. And I do turn the radio on and off with the PS just to be cautious. Also, I bought some spare switches. I don't remember the source but it was either Digikey or Mouser. If you would like the P/N I can look for the spare package. But that could take a month as I am on travel. There should be a note in the files somewhere. 73, Richard AG5M On Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at 03:32:19 AM PDT, Jorge Lopes <ct1exr@...> wrote: Hi all,? Re: FT-847 power switch
I would suggest you do not just turn psu on, it will more than likely have a voltage surge on switch on. Disconnect positive from psu, turn on psu and then connect positive. I have plenty of switches in stock, that are on ebay, but ebay vastly inflates the price for shipping to abroad from UK.? Direct is considerably cheaper.
