Re: 60 Meter Transmit Mod Info Wanted

The 48 Mhz is way before the PA.?
I forget the exact figure, but it was not many dB down from the 70 Mhz signal

TX BPF mod, will give you 85 Watts on TX, you could add a further 70MHZ BPF if you wish, to bring the 2nd harmonic down a bit more.

I have done the above mod on two FT 847, and they worked extremely well, I sold them both in a weak moment!

The 60 metre mod is easily done by simply widebanding the radio.?
60 metres is not in the processor, as 60 metres was not thought of when the radio was new.?
Ref 4 metres, I looked in to doing the mods, and came to the conclusion that a transverter was both easier and cheaper.?
The TX output is easy, removing one cap in PA, but if looking at a SA on the output, there are nasty sprogs at around 48 Mhz that would need filtering out, which involves messing with bpf.?

Re: 60 Meter Transmit Mod Info Wanted

Leighton,
yes that was the cause of the issue all of the documentation is so very old and conflicting
but I can confirm that it works well on 60M
the 40M bandpass filter covers from 5 to 7.5Mhz
as the radio has the Alaska emergency frequency?5.1675Mhz
from the factory.

Re: 60 Meter Transmit Mod Info Wanted

Unfortunately it does not include coverage of the 5Mhz band as far as I can see.
Leighton. GW3FSP.

Re: 60 Meter Transmit Mod Info Wanted

Hi there, there is a list of frequencies covered after the mod included in the info, as always a full reset is required after changing any of the links to make sure the processor picks up the new band info, Ihave done this mod to both my 847's with no problems what so ever.
Leighton. GW3FSP.

Re: 60 Meter Transmit Mod Info Wanted

Morning Leighton
yes thats where the info comes from??
but it is clear as mud from the chart what the consequences of the changes are
the big missing bit is full reset? (FAST+LOCK and power on)??

Re: 60 Meter Transmit Mod Info Wanted

Hi there, there is a mod sheet in the Files section from Yeasu - Band modifications for 847 frequencies - which gives the link information to broad band the 847.
leighton. GW3FSP.

Re: 60 Meter Transmit Mod Info Wanted

never mind, all is well

turns out that none of the instructions I have found included the?
3 finger salute reset? (hold FAST and LOCK while powering up)
all I found was the MENU #39 all init? ?reset

see you all on 60M FT8 !

Re: 60 Meter Transmit Mod Info Wanted

update??
but I just did the changes to one of my 847s
started with one like this

and finished with it looking like this

I used 0 ohm resistors instead of a? solder bridge

and i cant find that the changes did anything at all
except causing me to have to reset all my settings and memories
it gives "error" when going out of any band from 160M - 70cm
I enabled the AK emergency channel? in the menu and it will TX there
but it would have done that any way?
anyone ever have success with this?

Re: FT-847 on 8M

Thanks, I was aware of that.? The current experimental band is 40.660 to 40.700 for US stations.??

At this stage I don't even have a license to transmit on 8 meter.

FT-847 on 8M?

Has anyone tried using an 847 on the new experimental 8M band?? I've been monitoring 40.680 (FT8) for several?days without?success.? Given the time of year, this is no surprise?but, I wonder, how sensitive?the radio?is at 40Mhz.

Has anyone tried transmitting on 40 Mhz?? Does the wideband mod enable the radio to xmit on 8M?

You can contact me via the ARRL reflector.

All,

So what I found out is the ALC modification that I implemented to use the 847 with transverter's disabled the SAT mode function.? I'm not sure why but removing the diode that was suggest by OK1VPZ and team fixed the issue.?
