We will be making a Shabbos Mevorchim Kiddush this week. We will also be honoring Aaron & Judi Rosenfeld who are moving. It is a good opportunity to show appreciation to this wonderful couple who have done so much for the shul and the Flatbush community for may years. This Shabbos in shul Rabbi Shulman spoke passionately about renewing and strengthening our partnership with Kollel Beis Vaad L¡¯Chachamim. We are primarily interested in a commitment to a monthly donation, even of a modest amount. The Rambam (in his commentary to ???? ???? ??? ?) teaches that 100 donations of $15 are preferable to one donation of $1,500, since the repetition instills the habit of generosity. Likewise, a regular monthly donation from all the members of our ????? would impress the ethos of ????? ????? on us all. Our goal is to have participation of all our mispallelim in whatever amount they can contribute. We have left sign up cards on the tables in shul. Dear friends,
As you know, one of the most important mitzvah initiatives that our ????? has undertaken in recent years has been our partnership, through the Adopt-a-Kollel program, of a very special ???? ???? in ???????: Kollel Beis Vaad L¡¯Chachamim, under the leadership of R¡¯ Chaim Shapiro ????"?.
The kollel is comprised of veteran ?????? ?????. When we first formed our partnership I was told that the eldest member of the kollel was born in Kovno ghetto. All of the members of the kollel have decades of learning and teaching behind them. One of them ¨C HaGaon R¡¯ Chagai Preschel ¨C served for many years as the Rosh Yeshiva of the Moscow yeshiva. (We were privileged to have R¡¯ Preschel, along with the Rosh Kollel R¡¯ Shapiro, with us for a very memorable Shabbos a number of years ago.) The kollel includes many ????? ???? ???, both in ???? and in ????.
On several occasions I visited the kollel and said a shiur for them. It was a privilege and a challenge to engage in learning with such formidable, veteran scholars.
In these troubled times for ??? ?????, as we search for merits for ourselves and for our people, there can be no greater ???? than to help support the Torah of this special group of ?????? ?????.

On Pesach we made an appeal for the shul as well as an important charity in Israel, One Family Fund. Yasher Koach to all who contributed. Before we send them the funds that have been collected we are asking those that may not have donated yet to consider sending in much needed funds. I am attaching some information below to familiarize everyone with some of the programs One Family provides.?
Our six day therapeutic summer camp program will be offered to 500 children, ages 7-18, this summer in the middle of July. Approximately 300 children has lost a sibling, and approximately 200 children have lost a parent.? Some of the children have lost more than one relative, and there will be some orphans attending camp.? We will have every possible therapeutic activity along with so many?fun activities that the kids wouldn't ordinarily be able to experience.?

OneFamily¡¯s Children, Youth and Young Adult Division¡¯s programming is multi-faceted. All year long, OneFamily¡¯s coordinators and volunteer counselors provide terror survivors with informal, routine, one-on-one support and guidance, that supplement professional psychological, logistic and financial support that is customized for individual circumstances.?

Many victims exhibit extreme difficulty sleeping, eating, learning, concentrating, are disinterested in being social and agitate easily. OneFamily¡¯s coordinators, who are trained by professional therapists, identify danger signs and line up appropriate, professional resources to address vulnerabilities being exhibited on a day-to-day basis.?
?
OneFamily ongoing group activities for the Youth & Young Adult Division include therapeutic camps during summer and holidays, weekend retreats, holiday programs, special events, individual counseling, a Big Brother/Big Sister Program, support groups, and alternative therapies.

All Children, Youth, and Young Adult Division Programming combines the following core elements to ensure full therapeutic effectiveness:

Fun and leisure activities: ?The aim of these activities is for the victims to be happy, to find release, and to prepare the groundwork for deeper therapeutic activities.? Activities include hikes, jeep tours, amusement parks, swimming, videos, cultural activities and more.
?
Semi-therapeutic activities and non-verbal therapy workshops:??The aim of these activities is to create social and therapeutic depth in indirect ways, in order to deepen relationships, process significant emotional issues sub-consciously, and empower them to share their internal worlds through experiences. Examples of these activities include ODT activities, cooking, movement workshops, hydrotherapy, drama therapy, and touch workshops.

Verbal and frontal therapy activities:?The aim of these activities is to develop direct dialogue on issues of loss and bereavement, memory, longing, pain, memorializing, and difficulties dealing with family and friends as a result of their bereavement or trauma.? These activities are led by specialist counselors and therapists.

?Children, Youth & Young Adult Division Staff
?
Children, Youth and Young Adults Division Staff Coordinators and Volunteer Counselors, provide endless love and direct one on one personal attention for each participant, through house visits, attending memorial services and family celebrations, and addressing the specific needs of each victim. They are responsible for organizing and facilitating support groups and therapy workshops, therapeutic retreats and excursions, summer and holiday programs.

There are multiple departments in our Children, Youth, and Young Adult Division, each supported by a coordinator: (1) Children from 7-18 boys. (2) Children from 7-18 girls (3) Children from 7- 18 co-ed (4) Young Adults (5) Orphans (Children who lost both parents to terror)

OneFamily staff come from social work and therapeutic backgrounds and undergo ongoing professional training and development throughout the year, as well as guidance from senior clinical psychologists on a weekly basis.

On Yom Tov we made the Yizkor appeal on behalf of the shul as well as the One Family fund. For those who were away for Yom Tov we urge you help support both the shul and this very important Tzedakah in Israel. One Family has a long history of helping families who are victims of terror. Since 2001 they have helped over 26,000 individuals providing much needed emotional and financial support. We have partnered with them since the Intafada and many other times over the years and know that our support has meant a lot to the bereaved families. Since October 7th they continue to provide access to a wide range of support programs designed to aid grieving families on their journey towards healing. Your generosity will help us provide for those in Eretz Yisroel who need our help at this critical time.

We are sorry to inform you of the passing of Miriam Magill, sister of the late Boruch Kaster. The funeral will be? gravesite at 3:00 PM today at Mount Hebron Cemetery.
Shiva will be at 1940 Ocean Avenue / Apartment 3E until Sunday morning.
