father of Chaya Frayda Horowitz, and father-in-law of Shuey Horowitz.
Service will be graveside, tomorrow (Friday) morning. The funeral party will meet at 9:00 AM at Beth Moses Cemetery, 1500 Wellwood Ave., West Babylon NY, and at 9:30 will proceed to the grave in Wellwood Cemetery next door.

Dear friends,
As we reflect on the past year, we can take great pride in the successful integration of the upstairs and downstairs minyanim. This is a bright example of what can be accomplished when we approach challenges with goodwill and a willingness to work together.
Looking ahead, our next goal is to maintain this unity during the Yomim Noraim. The essence of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur is to acknowledge Hashem as our King; what better way to do so than in a manner that embodies the principle of ???? ?? ???? ???, "the glory of the King is enhanced in large assembly"?
However, our Ohel Yaakov Beis Medrash is not spacious enough to accommodate all of those who daven with us on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Therefore, we plan to hold the combined Yomim Noraim tefillos upstairs in the main shul. We are committed to making this space feel welcoming and inclusive for everyone.
Towards that end, we intend to remove a portion of the benches and replace them with tables and comfortable chairs, although one section of pews will remain.
We also look forward to drawing upon the combined talents of baalei tefilah from both minyanim.
I will make it my business to see that the davening finishes in a timely manner, without compromising its gravity and beauty.

Dear friends, Tonight we enter the period of semi-mourning known as the Three Weeks. This period continues until Rosh Chodesh Av, when we enter the more intense mourning of the Nine Days. Here are some basic halachos of the Three Weeks. (The halachos of the Nine Days will be treated separately ??"?.) There are four basic prohibitions in this period: a) ? ? ?Joyous activities (e.g. weddings) b) ? ? ?Haircuts & shaving c) ? ? ?Brocho of ??????? d) ? ? ?Activities with an element of danger Joyous activities:We do not schedule weddings to take place in this period. A vort, Bar Mitzvah, or Sheva Berachos are permitted, but without music. One should refrain from listening to musical instruments, whether live or recorded.

Haircuts and shaving:
One should not get a haircut or shave in this period. Women are permitted to shave body hair. Nail cutting is permitted.
It is permitted to cut a sheitel.
One can shave during this period for work if not doing so might jeopardize?one's employment.
?
???????:
The custom is not to put oneself in a situation where making a ??????? would be called for. Non-??????? purchases are permitted. The ???? of ???? ?????? is permitted. The difference between them is that ??????? is recited over something that gives joy to oneself only, while ???? ?????? is said on an occasion of joy that one shares with others.
For example: Buying a car for one¡¯s private recreational use would call for a ??????? and should be avoided. Buying a family car calls for ???? ?????? and is permitted.
There is no prohibition per se ?to buy new clothing during the Three Weeks. However, one should not buy a garment that is of sufficient value to warrant reciting a ???????. (The determination of what constitutes a valuable garment depends on individual circumstances.)
?
Dangerous activities:
One should refrain from activities that have an element of danger in them. For example: Elective surgery, swimming in a river or deep water.
(Activities that are considered significantly dangerous by most people are forbidden the whole year.)
?May this period of mourning be transformed into a time of rejoicing with the advent of the ????? ????.

Some of you remember his bar mitzvah in shul over 20 years ago! As a parent I remember how anxious I was as he leined, davened for the amud and said his bar mitzvah speech from the pulpit. I am so happy to have you share this special time with us as well.? May we all continue to experience happiness, peace and unity.
