Mark,

My wife and I will be arriving Friday afternoon with our camper.
I have sling shots and cordage for hanging dipoles in trees.
I have all the rigging for the antenna tower and will be in charge of getting that up Saturday?morning.? Will need help with this.
I will be available to help out with the club station through out the duration of the event.
I will be there to help take everything down.

Electronic equipment available for Sale - Harley?

We have someone interested in becoming a Ham, and I’ve already provided him with all the info he needs, along with my phone number so he can call, ask questions and I can get him to the right knowledgeable person, Elmer, etc.

But he retired, closed his business, and is going to sell all his electronics testing equipment, etc. ?Harley, his yard sale is Saturday, but he is wondering if the club would want any of it donated to them, however, Saturday is very close. ?He’s created a small list of the overall inventory and given us his phone number. ?If you think we need some of it, would you call him to see what he has? ?For the rest of us as individuals, it is for sale on Saturday, but if the club as a whole would like a bit of it, we can do that as well. ?

His message: ?“ Would the club be interested in misc test equipment from my closed Electronic Service Business ? Also have lots of misc parts (resistor capacitors,ICs misc tubes etc )I would be interested in donating part of the lot listed .please call me soonest Don Smith 406-539-3786 . . . 808 Moonbeam Lane Belgrade Mt

As posted I have large # of test equipment that would be of use with Ham Radio such as Frequency Counter FM SIGNAL GENERATOR?
DC POWER SUPPLY ALIGNMENT GENERATOR?
RF/VIDEO GENRATOR with power supply scopes TRANSISTOR CHECKER INVENTORY LIST AVAILABLE.

I will look over material to join the club and be ready to discuss same. Having garage sale this Saturday. Private viewing b4 sale can be arranged.

Just me for supper.? Pretty much everyone who is left standing at noon Sunday helps with take down.

We will be at the Gateway Retreat (see attached) starting at 5:00 PM on Friday 6/21.? We need to be packed up and moved off-site by 5:00 PM Sunday 6/23.? GHRC is paying the site fee that includes camping.? All are welcome!

Please note that pets are not allowed.? Also, the west boundary is the Gallatin River and it should?be flowing vigorously.? Be very watchful of any kids near the water.

Club Radio -- This station will be available from 1200 MDT Sat to 1200 MDT Sun.?? The radio will be operated as W7ED and all bands will be available regardless of license class (this may not be true all night long, but certainly all daylight hours)? ?

Please send back the time you would like to operate (wgsllc@...) the station and I will compile and send these out, and we can have some discussion.? Your ideas are very welcome.? Otherwise, you can simply show up and I'm sure you will get on the air.? We discussed that we would have one person operating and one person logging.? Certainly those desiring to work the wee hours will find the radio available.

Fox Hunt -- Harley is planning to have a fox hunt on Saturday, weather permitting.? I'm not sure how he plans to set this up but certainly expect a lot of fun to be had.? Plan on this and will have specific time shortly.

BBQ - GHRC will supply meat and participants will bring a dish to share.? This will happen Saturday evening, I'm guessing about 6-ish.? If you can let me know (wgsllc@...) how many will be attending, I will compile and that will help us plan the meat/buns.

Re: Picture of my ham shack

Tom,

Thanks for the questions. To be honest, I was in such a hurry to get my shack "set up" before my paternity leave ended that I haven't finished the configuration of Pi-Star. But as Larry mentioned there are a lot of good resources out there, and these guides:

The first of which is what I used to assemble the hardware and currently I'm working through the second link in my free time.

To answer the question about the laptop, it is indeed running Ubuntu Mate 24.04 customized by the hosts of the Linux in the Ham Shack podcast. Software on it is everything in the Ham Radio Debian Pureblend:

with the addition of CQRLog, WSJTX, and JS8Call. I also think there are a few SDR applications on there, and I'm planning to build/install SDRAngel on mine if it's not already installed. Feel free to reach out with any questions about Linux in general as I've used it as my personal operating system of choice for at least 8 years. I only wish I didn't have to keep a Windows 10 virtual machine around for some of the bespoke radio/scanner applications :)
