Don I have already volunteered to do the night shift but would rather be on CW.? I am familiar somewhat with N1MM logger but I will need to get more training on using the various function keys.? I have N1MM logger on my computer and was trying to use it but some major difficulties came up and I optioned to use HAMRS.? Will go back and try to practice N1MM.? Thanks for the information.? From the N1MM W7ED Field Day Log:
ARRL Field Day (June) - 2024-06-22 1800Z to 2024-06-23 2100Z - 147
QSO
?
Total Time On 07:33? (453 mins)
----------------------------
I didn't realize we operated so little!? Only 71/2 hours of the
24 we were allowed!
We tried a CDE rotor at FD some years ago. It
added complexity to the tower installation
and a 5 or 8 conductor cable and another control
box for very little gain in Qs.? Using a tag
line to point the beam is not the problem. To add
contacts we need to OPERATE!
W7ED went more than 13 hours with no operator,
hence no contacts (from 0139 Z to 1456 Z).
Hopefully next year we'll have a multi-band dipole
or a vertical up for night use....if we can get
anyone to operate then....night time is THE
time to learn:? slower, not so hurried or harried.? Great for
learning how to operate in the FD environment
(Section abbreviations, classes of operation,?
timing, voicing - SSB)? as well as learning how to
use the various
lights (AC/DC), furnace, stove, & batteries in
the GHRC trailer.
Perhaps next May & June we can have programs to show folks
how to
operate with N1MM, the radio, the trailer and the
generator?

Re: ARRL Foundation Club Grant - Application Deadline Approaching
I think you need a valid project and you also need significant matching funds to be competitive and for those reasons I would not expect that GHRC would submit on this. There might be some future opportunity where we have an actual project that meets the eligibility requirements of the Grant program and if we had some significant amount of matching funds, say something like 50% that could look appealing to ARRL and we would have a valid application.? Even if the grant program is not requiring matching funds, there is no doubt that some level of investment by the club thereby making the Grant supplementary will be advantageous for a successful application.
