Re: ARRL FIELD DAY SUBMISSION

Robin,

I have some extra laptops that I can wipe and put a fresh install of whatever Windows operating system you need. Give me a call/text at 406-589-2143 and we can work something out.

Thanks,

Since most of our club members are here on the reflector, we need to discuss before the next meeting (7/11/24) so decisions can be made and voted on during the meeting. In the last several months two topics have been mentioned by club members as to activities and direction of the club. One being the Welfare Messaging System and two is increasing club membership with community outreach programs (Boyscouts being the most logical beginner step).? There are at least 3 different club members who have written grants before so I think we could get this done by the soon approaching grant deadline.

Mark(KU7O) and Eric(KE7NLU) have started the process setting up their individual radio systems to be able to do Welfare Messaging System.? A living document with the 'recipes' needs to be documented for each set-up.? So as new hams come aboard and want to participate in the Welfare Messaging System, the club will have the documents to help each individual with their individual radio system.? I will be asking Mark and Eric to document their individual process with a parts list.

We have Robin(KJ7VVO), Sue(KK7RYG), and Carolynn(KF7YUS) interested in the Welfare Messaging System so far.? If any others are interested in learning and helping with the Welfare Messaging System, please email me your name and what radio you plan to use for the WMS.? A windows PC will be needed as well.

To recap:
Who is interested?
What radio would you plan to use for the Welfare Messaging System?

Again, discussion needs to happen this week-before the club meeting so actions can be voted on at the club meeting to meet the deadline for grant submission.

Re: Grant Topic 1: Welfare Messaging System.

After gaining more understanding of how the Welfare Messaging System works and what all is needed to get started, it seems it is more of an individual project instead of a club project.? In the future as more members are on boarded to the Welfare Messaging System, there will be times of practice, drills, and education as our club and members begin their journey in Emergency Communications.? I don't see a need to write a grant for this project.?

Those that are interested in the Welfare Messaging System can begin and start implementing.? Mark KU7O and Eric KE7NLU are our guinea pigs and will be able to help others.

Re: ARRL FIELD DAY SUBMISSION

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

I have already submitted the Cabrillo log to the ARRL. W7ED was running as a class 1A station, therefore we could not run a GOTA station:??

? "4.1.1. Get-On-The-Air (GOTA) Station. Any Class A (or F) entry whose transmitter classification is
two or more transmitters may also operate one additional station without changing its base entry category,
known as the GET-ON-THE-AIR (GOTA) station."

??? If Spencer or Trevor operated under their call signs we cannot count them in the W7ED totals, all stations

except the GOTA station must use the same call sign. They CAN list the Gallatin Ham Radio Club in their Cabrillo

file (under CLUB:) to qualify for the "aggregate club score" :

?"An aggregate club score will also be published, which will be the sum of all individual entries indicating a
specific club (similar to the aggregate score totals used in ARRL affiliated club competitions). Participants
from any Class can optionally include a single club name with their submitted results following Field Day."

See Rule 7: Scoring, paragraph 2

Spencer submitted his log under his call sign, I don't know about Trevor.

The only operators listed in the ARRL FD submission are those who did a? CTRl-O? or the 'OPON' command

and entered their call into the log.?

We could certainly use more operators next year!?? :-).

I¡¯m guessing others may be as well given the state of US and world affairs.?

I was sent a baofang to start by my brother who is somewhat connected to the Papa system in SoCal if that would be helpful at all as we progress. ?I look forward to helping.?
