After the short email I sent out a couple of days ago, I got several questions, so I’ve put together a more detailed explanation about what I do to try to operate FT8 while minimizing distortion. I’ve attached it to this email. If this subject is of interest to you, let me know if anything I have in here is hard to follow or is unclear, or if you have ideas that we ought to try for this. The only thing I haven’t done is find someone near the remote that could ‘look’ at my signal from their home station to see if my signal is in fact clean, or if I’ve let the lack of “ALC” fool me. 73-Greg NI5W

Just want to give a big thanks to Keith and everyone else who have worked so hard on the remote. I spent a little time running FT8 just now, had a mini-JA pileup on 10, operated on several bands, and ended with VP8. I'm gonna have to jump back on cw, but it's hard for me to find a new on fone or cw, but almost everything's a new one for me on FT8. Tnx es 73! NI5W

Only had a minute to check the remote and don’t remember who was operating - but - who ever it was was on 30 meters operating FT8 and everything looked and sounded great - no ALC indicated with 70 or 80 watts out - think it might have been Greg operating - but - whoever it was had the settings just right - congrats ? On top of Dan’s most excellent CW run, I’d have to say it was a good day at the remote ? ‘73 es gud DXing - Don N4HH

Had a great run in the 1900Z CWT today. 126Q in one hour. W7DXX rocks… a great CW Station many many callers, like I was a rare DX station. Score summary posted on Slack. Dan n5tm

There is ONLY ONE command that works to do this - it is: /open lower case - things like bye, exit, I give up, relqtxish, etc., etc just don't work - it's pretty simple /open followed by the enter key - just in case you have not read it, please read: http://www.w7dxx.com/welcome.pdf Enjoy -- Don N4HH

Tne computer seems to forget the restore mode after several hours W/O AC

I went to the remote and did a reset after our AC failure

We have an AC power outage at the remote that has exceeded the battery life of the UPS. When power returns I will need to go to the remote to reset...,I wish it could be done remotely.

FYI Power to amp is OFF Cleaned up the display to remove Memories 1,2,3,4 Added button for Pre(amp) Power setting cannot be set until amp is on line Odd ball USB for Com 8 -- NOT FTDI - some sort of Microchip - ditch it and plug in an actual FTDI cable. Will check back later and report -- Don N4HH
