Here is the map from the National Park Service
(zoomed in) of the Ice Age Floods Trail. The?trail is actually
an automobile trail. According to POTA rules for trails, you
must be set up within 100 feet of the trail, so maybe a pullout
on Hwy 14 or something similar. It looks like Steigerwald might
count for both.? I'm not sure if there is any public land
(required) within 100 feet of the Interstates, except maybe in
the median!
- "If a
trail system or a river is designated as a POTA entity by
itself (not as parts of a land park having a defined
boundary), the activator and the station equipment must be
on public property within 30.5 meters (100 feet) from the
edge of the trail or river."
Wait, so I can POTA without leaving home? Too easy, not
very adventurous, but I'm in! ?
