The closest POTA park I never knew about

One of my Intel ham friends just pointed out to me that stretches throughout the Portland/Vancouver area.
So SR-14, I-5, I-205, and I-84 are all in the "park".
And it may be possible to have a POTA activation on your commute to work.
I never knew.

Interesting that Camas is not. Thankfully, I see Washougal is inside the boundary!

Upon closer examination it is not clear to me what the park boundary is.
The gray area on the map is showing the glacial flood plain.
That's why the high points like the Prune Hill area are not part of that.
Since the park has "trail" in its name, I think it's safe to assume the "trails" shown in dark green are within the park.
The rest is not so clear to me.
Maybe a POTA expert can enlighten us.

Wait, so I can POTA without leaving home? Too easy, not very adventurous, but I'm in! ?

Here is the map from the National Park Service (zoomed in) of the Ice Age Floods Trail. The?trail is actually an automobile trail. According to POTA rules for trails, you must be set up within 100 feet of the trail, so maybe a pullout on Hwy 14 or something similar. It looks like Steigerwald might count for both.? I'm not sure if there is any public land (required) within 100 feet of the Interstates, except maybe in the median!

  1. "If a trail system or a river is designated as a POTA entity by itself (not as parts of a land park having a defined boundary), the activator and the station equipment must be on public property within 30.5 meters (100 feet) from the edge of the trail or river."

The Park US-3424 shows up on the POTA web site as being half way between Watervill and Coulee City on Highway US2.?

That isn't the entire trail, just one point. They do the same with parks and national forests, but anywhere insude the border works.?

Notice on the information to the left of the map, it shows it in "US-ID, US-MT, US-OR, US-WA".

The map I sent is from the NPS link on that page, and is the official map of the Trail.

From my POTA inquiry;
?
Hi Dave, yes, the inundation area (grey) qualifies for activation locations as long as you are on public land. You can be in a local park and use US-3424 .?
?
hope this helps, opens up some possibilities ?
