Dear Members, My name is Roanna Bacchus, and I am visually impaired. As a toddler, I attended the Early Intervention program at the Perkins School For The Blind. I come from an Immigrant family who migrated to the United States from the Caribbean islands of Trinidad and Tobago. Four years ago I graduated from the University of Central Florida with my Bachelor's degree in Interdsciplinary Studies. I joined this list to learn more about Uber and Lyft.

Hi all. I changed the subject to better reflect my thoughts. I've used paratransit off and on since the mid-90s, with mixed results. Time probably won't permit me to go into a big rant about this, but suffice it to say I have mixed feelings about ADA paratransit. It's a great concept that has been plagued with problems over the years. I've arrived at this conclusion based on my own experiences with the local system, and also based on what I've heard from friends/family and read from acquaintances and in a few books on disability history. I've heard time and again that everything and everyone has their issues, and this is a true statement. But I firmly believe that something that is nationwide shouldn't have this many issues. Furthermore, it seems to me that these issues--or most of them--are not being resolved in a timely fashion if at all. I realize I'm being rather blunt here, but this is and has been an issue that really pushes my hot buttons. I published a rant about it over on my journal. But there was a guy here in my city who drove people around for a flat fee. I think he has since retired, but I also heard from someone that he is still driving. Hello everyone, we have had a serious growing amount of members and I wanted to take the time to welcome everyone. The reason why am posting, is because somebody said that the group has some issues. And they've tried to post to the group so I'm going to see if this post goes through.
