Re: Forty-9er Transmitter
In case that was the cause, I replaced the D882 with a BD139 from W8DIZ. Same problem. Bob

Re: Forty-9er Transmitter
Several others have had that problem. I've dialed my voltage back from my base rig voltage of 13.8V to 12V and I've not had any problems. I did have a heat sink on it before that, but have since

Re: Forty-9er Transmitter
I had the same thing happen to one of the 49-er kits that I built and another one from a friend--it was a blown D882 transistor in both cases.? de Karl, KO8S

Re: KY-040 encoder threaded for mounting? [2 Attachments]
Here's 10 encoders for less than $5 including shipping (search: 121993737161): Of course, these are from China, so you'd have to wait a while. Jack, W8TEE To:

Re: KY-040 encoder threaded for mounting?
I also needed an encoder with threads, and was concerned by several comments from buyers who were disappointed to find out that what they got didn't look like the pictures. I picked up some from this

Re: Forty-9er Transmitter
What source code file are you looking at? I don't remember writing code with PADDLECOMMON in it, but that doesn't mean I didn't...I've probably slept since it was written. Jack, W8TEE To:

Re: Forty-9er Transmitter
Thanks, Jack. For the CW CapSenseKeyer code I see PADDLECOMMON set to 4 but do not see that PB4 is wired. Please explain. No rush. I work 8 hours a day too. Bob KF6ABC MIx

Re: Forty-9er Transmitter
I'm no EE guy, but if the receiver is working, that tells me that the VFO is working. I think you should see about 2-4Vpp on J2 or J3. I've asked Dennis to look into this further, as it may be well

Forty-9er Transmitter
My receiver works, but the transmitter just sends a clicking sound. What VPP should I see on J6 from J3? What is the procedure for tracing this problem? Bob KF6ABC Mix

KY-040 encoder threaded for mounting?
I have ordered and received a couple of KY-040 encoders expecting to get the ones that are threaded to take a nut and getting ones that are unthreaded. The vendors have been nice about refunding money

Re: CW Automatic Keyer
Did you download the book's code from the M-H web site? I'm not at home right now so I don't have access to my system, but the URL is given in the book's Preface. Jack, W8TEE To:

Re: CW Automatic Keyer
It's been a while since I've looked at the code, but Figure 7-14 shows the cap sensors on pins 5 and 7. I'd go back to the book and read the section on the cap sensors starting on page 144. Jack,

How about a Contest in September-Pefect for this 49-er/VFO project?
I would guess by September of this year, most of the 49-er/VFO radios that were built from March QST of this year, would be on the air by now, or will be very shortly, and will be ready for their
