Re: Encoder question

Thank you, Oliver.

Re: Encoder question

There's a flag in the Config.h file that sets the steps for the encoder. I think that you need to comment it out if you're using the 4SQRP encoders. This line:

Encoder question

V66.9. I'm using the encoders from my 4SQRP kit in my V12 but it skips a lot of counts unless I turn the knobs slow. Do I have a hardware problem or a software problem?

Attenuator problem

V66.9, V12.6 RF board: In the 'RF in atten' sub-menu I get the proper 3.3v outputs on pins 21-26 on U21, but 'RF out atten' doesn't show any outputs on pins 1-6. I'm missing something simple, right?

Re: The T41 from 4SQRP and V11 boards.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Well Harry¡ here is a list of the differences between the V10/V11 series RF boards and the V12 RF board.? Just for reference:

?

?

1. Functions of the QSE and QSD combined into one board for synergy.

2. Si5351 LO is on the RF board to keep RF lines short.

3. Quadrature LOs are generated in the si5351 directly allowing much greater frequency span of base-level transceiver, now covers 600KHz-150MHz+.

4. Improved anti-aliasing filters using reformed filters and ultra-low noise Op Amps (AD8599 and OPA2209)

5. TX to RX Feedback line to facilitate auto-calibration.

6. New MMIC RF front-end gives flat gain over entire receive range and better than 0.5uV sensitivity.

7. Ultra-wide band impedance matching RX Input transformer facilitates isolation and static drain. ?

8. New high speed CW key-shaping circuitry for perfect keying.

9. Optional 32 dB in half steps RF gain control on front end (PE4302).

10. Optional TCXO for less than 0.1ppm frequency drift.

11. Optional precision-adjustable RF power output from exciter in 0.5 dB increments (PE4302, 32 power steps from for 1mW to 1mW)

12. Compatible with V011 hardware (but requires V012 Main board).

13. 4-layer board for reduced RF cross-talk and IMD.

14. Built only what you want/ need concept.

15. Same size as V10/V11/V12 Main board.

16. Single 12V connection. Onboard voltage regulators just for RF board. Distributed power model.

17. Works with either V10/V011 LPF and PA boards, or with enhanced V12 LPF and K9HZ boards.

18.? Optionally add a second RF board for second RX (great for DXers).

?

?

I may have a few V11 boards left¡ I¡¯ll have to look.? If not, the Gerbers are out on my GITHUB for those who must have them.

?

I was interested to read Neville's comments re /g/SoftwareControlledHamRadio/message/33358

?

I haven't used T41/V12 boards at all but, looking at the circuits, the V12 RX circuits seem almost identical to the V10/11 in every way that matters .? My experience of the V10 RX performance is very positive, similar to Neville's.? The main? changes I have made and experiments I have tried relate to the TX side of my T41/V10 rather than the RX,? ?I've (successfully) tried some of Greg's hardware mods by hacking my V10 QSE board which now has lots of cut tracks and extra solder links on it !

?

I also use Greg's excellent T41EEE software.and have replaced the original T41 V10 PA by the K9HZ PA.

?

By the way, I think Neville did his own thing building his T41 rather than building a 4SQRP kit.

?

For me, T41 EP V10/V11 has been and remains a great project.

?

Thanks.

Re: T41 V12 software development path forward

The 2484 number means nothing and does not mean there's a problem. We could reduce that number a lot if we start stripping features out of the T41, but that's not a solution. I'm not sure what you mean about the RA8875 class that calls "the real RA8875 stuff". Perhaps you can expand that. There are features of the RA8875 that we use that are not always available on other displays (e.g., overlays and a Block Transfer Engine).

I guess what you mean by a page class is that each page would be an overlay on the display. However, managing the cells in the overlay for updated information as it arrives puts thing more or less where they are now. We kinda do that now for the Information Window (see UpdateInfoWindow()) Maybe I don't see what you have in mind here.

Inside the T41 code:

Looking at out:? it has 2484 lines.

There are a few ways this could be approached.? One would be that
replacement
class for the RA8875 stuff.? It could have functions that either call
the real
RA8875 stuff....or don't, depending on a variable.

Another thing could be to create a "page" class.? Define a page for the
main screen,
another page for the BIT test screen, another page for the "direct
frequency entry" screen, etc etc.

You put the TFT stuff in those page classes, and keep doing it until
there's no
TFT stuff anywhere else.? You define methods such that the main program
just says "draw the main screen", and the page code takes care of all
the decorations.

The power of a "page" class like this is that it could make it easy to
sluff the display
activity off to a second CPU, communicating with the "radio" CPU via I2C
or SPI.

Try loading one of the example programs from the RA8875 library to see if it runs with the Teensy.

Here is a WAG, do you have the 3V/5V selection jumper in place on the main board for your proper display operating voltage?

Subject: [SoftwareControlledHamRadio] Need Solution

?

I got the main board working. When running the test program it finds the teensy hat, the switch panel and ?encoder boards. When I run the display test it comes back test completed but the screen stays blank. The screen did come one one time, turned off and back on no screen. I have resoldered the pins, tried ribbon cable and individual wires still nothing.?

? Any suggestions?

Tom
