¿ªÔÆÌåÓýMy sister once had a computer that stopped working.? In her case, the OS was messed up, not the hard drive.? It was easy to recover the data from the hard drive using Linux.? However, it sounds like Jack's issue is with the drive itself.? Trying different machines is still a good idea, in case something is messed up with a Windows driver, but it sounds like the drive itself is bad.? If it's a mechanical drive, I've been known to slap it pretty hard a couple of times or drop it a couple of inches, to unstick the drive.? That might work if the drive is stuck.? If you can hear the drive spinning up when turned on, then it's not stuck.? Throwing it against a wall probably won't help with the drive but it may help get rid of some frustration (hi).?
