Locked Has anyone connected AsiAir Plus 256gb to AN/SC?
I have an obsession 15"UC with AN/SC and can't get it to connect properly.
I have AsiAir connected directly to USB-B port on SC. Iphone to WIFI to AsiAir Plus. Asi533mc Pro connected directly to AsiAir. AN and SC HCs connected to Obsession. Prior to connect the AsiAir, I was able to use Sky Safari7 pro using SkyFi III to connect with my iPhone wirelessly. Any help would be appreciated. Steve |

is it possible, then, to have Sky SAfari run the AN/SC through SkyFi, AND, have AsiAir Plus, 'along for the ride', run the asi533mc pro camera through?its own wifi to get the pix? FYI...Yesterday, I did connect AsiAir Plus to AN/SC. It only lasted 3-5 sec then disconnected.
While connected ,AsiAir showed my location. it could only get that from the AN/SC? Until then any connection that I thought I had NEVER showed my location. The AN/SC was set to 'Meade' at 19200. The AsiAir Plus was set to 'Digital Setting Circle' at 19200. It only lasted the 3-5 seconds. Still didn't show, in the asiair plus app on my iPad, the up/down, left/right movement controls. This was reproduced multiple times over 2 days and always lasted only the 3-5 seconds. Steve |

I am thinking along the same way as you Steve; I still don't own a ASIAir but considering buying one (see /g/ServoCAT/topic/anybody_tried_servocat/105389837) if I can make it work with my current setup.
AFAIK, the ServoCAT protocol is a subset of SkyCommander's, and so both should be compatible at least to some degree. So a quick test would be to see if SkyCommander is supported in the list of ASIAir mounts. If so, it'd be interesting to know what happens if one selects "SkyCommander" as mount, and connect the ASIAir to the USB port on the ServoCAT. My 2c. Sincerely, Ricardo. |

Hi Ricardo. We tried using sky commander?protocol in both an/sc and Asiair (at the same time)? at 9600 and 19200. It seemed to connected once or twice, but never showed my location (as if it really did connect and talk to each other). I will?try it again at both bauds over the next few days and get back to you. Hi Gary. I hope something can come of it! |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýGuys this isn't my specialty either, I mean ASI/Zwo products, as I am a dob owner as well. Having looked into the Asiair and zwo products, the ASi Air will only work with ASI products, Celestron and Meade, in some cases. They have engineered the products this way on purpose.?? I think Richard in this group uses an ASI power hub but nothing else. The AIR is proprietary. ? I have been working this problem for 4 years now and have been experimenting with SharpCap, dobs, Argo & Nexus.? Mickey On May 7, 2024, at 9:26?PM, classicalgman <nevets1347@...> wrote:

Thanks Steve, much appreciated. I went on and bite the bullet, and purchased an ASIAir anyway, should get delivered to Argentina in the next weeks so I will be able to perform some tests myself; if I can come up with something different will let you know.
@Mickey, I was in the believe that the main issue was that there are no INDI drivers for ServoCAT, rather than a deliberated commercial decision for ZWO of leaving some mounts off. Until I have my unit I won't be able to try, but from the videos I saw it seems there is a rather long list of mounts supported, and all of them with INDI drivers. Notice this isn't the case with the cameras, where I agree there's a clear decision of not supporting cameras other than ZWO, drivers or not drivers In any case, there should be no "physical" reasons that prevent the ServoCAT to work with the ASIAir; all should be needed is a proper INDI driver for ZWO to include in the ASIAir firmware. This could be either a completely new driver, or a re-spin for the existing SkyCommander driver, if indeed it turns out the ServoCAT's command are a subset of SkyCommand's Would love to hear what you all think. Thank you very much! Sincerely, Ricardo PS: sorry for my english |

Hi Ricardo. Here is a question and the answer that I got from ZWO 'Help'
my Question:?
Hi again. Another question.
Does Asiair Plus need INDIE software to be downloaded for it to connect to Argo Navis / ServoCat?
Here is their answer:

I know, as the designer, that you are not talking about the ServoCAT but rather the Argo Navis since you can't change the ServoCAT baud (for the most part) - and the AN has a "MEADE" protocol setting.? Second: since you changed the "startup" (REQUIRED for this to work) - did you cycle power on the AN after you changed it? This is required for that change to take place.? Third: the baud would be what the ASI is expecting (as programmed).? Last: I don't know that any '3-5' second connection would have existed, I'd suspect that this is just the time out time and there was no connection to begin with.? But for any hope you'd need these things.? Last: The AN in this configuration is only going to be able to tell any external device: location, mount type, and where it is ... it would not be able to do a GOTO as there is no GOTO capability from the AN to the SC (it is initiated by the SC) - the only means to do so is through the PC port. This is how the Nexus is doing it as it has a connection on both ports.? Gary Myers StellarCAT |

The ServoCAT protocol 'contains' the Sky Commander protocol - which is only 2 commands - but it is very rich and diverse beyond that. There are indeed more commands and much more capability. However it is structured at the moment to only communicate with known devices. That is in the process of being changed.? |

Just as a note: The ASIair is designed to be open to a good share of mounts... and I believe when we get something in place they'll be able to connect to the ServoCAT (no DSC needed, is the plan and expectation). There is currently NO way of connecting... so any impressions that you 'solved it' because of what appears to be very brief connections isn't the case. At least as far as using it for GOTO's (for any commanded motion). The only way that is currently going to happen is if the external device uses both ports: the DSC and the PC port on the ServoCAT. And even that uses 'custom' commands.?
The plan is to try to get native (build in "custom" to the ServoCAT) connections on some devices - but also to come up with a more universal interface such as ASCOM. I don't know about INDI as when I look at the site for it its very old and doesn't seem to have been maintained. Also I wrote to 2 different 'individuals' listed there as primary developers - one said he hadn't touched it in a very long time (and that was it, no "but maybe I can help" or "I might be able to connect you to someone else") ... and the other never responded. So for the moment the focus is ASCOM.? Stay tuned. But let this be an update - you're not going to magically get it working. There is no current interface other than the Nexus.? Gary Myers |
