Thanks Steve, much appreciated. I went on and bite the bullet, and purchased an ASIAir anyway, should get delivered to Argentina in the next weeks so I will be able to perform some tests myself; if I can come up with something different will let you know.
@Mickey, I was in the believe that the main issue was that there are no INDI drivers for ServoCAT, rather than a deliberated commercial decision for ZWO of leaving some mounts off. Until I have my unit I won't be able to try, but from the videos I saw it seems there is a rather long list of mounts supported, and all of them with INDI drivers. Notice this isn't the case with the cameras, where I agree there's a clear decision of not supporting cameras other than ZWO, drivers or not drivers
In any case, there should be no "physical" reasons that prevent the ServoCAT to work with the ASIAir; all should be needed is a proper INDI driver for ZWO to include in the ASIAir firmware. This could be either a completely new driver, or a re-spin for the existing SkyCommander driver, if indeed it turns out the ServoCAT's command are a subset of SkyCommand's
