My 1986 S2-27 is equipped with a Yanmar 2GM20F engine and it has a Groco strainer. I don't recall the exact model, but the one I have has a bronze body with a metal strainer and a clear plastic sight

The previous owner on my boat sawed open the panel between the water tank and engine. Removing the water tank temporarily then gave me plenty of access to the stuffing box. Steve

You are going to like the added headroom too. I'll always have a soft spot for my O'Day 26, but the S2 is a superior performer as long as you have deep enough water for that keel. Best of luck!
