Re: Water strainer for engine

My pleasure. ?FYI, Ours is mounted in the port cabinet just next to the engine aft of the "galley" area. ?The engine compartment is pretty tight, as you are well aware, and I think this is a good location for the strainer. ?In the winter I pump a gallon of environmentally safe antifreeze (the pink stuff from West Marine) in to the raw water system (we have a fresh water cooling system on our 2GM20F). ?Our boat has a bypass valve to allow us to easily winterize the cooling system. ?In Nashville we don't haul out in the winter, and the boats stay in the water. ?If you don't winterize or drain the strainer, freezing water will crack the sight glass.
