To: Mac Pac <mac-pac@...>, Delaware Valley BMW Riders <[email protected]>, Dominic Pirocchi <dominic@...>, Chris Doran <marley_scrooge@...> Cc: Vince Kelly <lvbeemers@...> Here is a post today from the president of the MOA. This is huge and something that has never happened before. If anyone questions the value of their MOA membership, this should put that to rest. Locked Turn signal intermittent 10
I have a 1976 R90/6 and the right rear turn signal is intermittent. The front right turn signal works fine. The flasher on the instrument cluster does not flash. A few times the right rear has started flashing intermittently and when it does, the flasher on a instrument cluster also flashes. Is it possible the flasher relay could be bad or does that work for left and right side? All the wiring and connectors seem to be fine. and nothing wrong with the bulb.

Locked 77 BMW RS for sale 3
As a correction to my note from yesterday, the silver RS has had a heart transplant from a 1986 R80 RT. With electronic ignition, smoother running than a 1,000cc engine and quieter valve train it is arguably the RS that BMW should have made themselves. paul Bates

Locked 1977 BMW RS FOR SALE 2
My friend Mark has a great bike for sale. He has owned it for many years. Proper full fairing, 3/4 seat plus full seat, all in the correct silver blue. Blue ATE calipers, spoke wheels correct with blue pinstripe, Krauser bags and a lot of period documents, magazines, poster and full tool kit owners manual, etc Bike is running on an 86 BMW850 motor, trans and instruments. Combining the ratios of the 850 transmission with the highest (for speed) final drive makes for the best mile eater of all time. The 850 motor is so sweet and smooth and quiet. Looks and runs great. I¡¯ve ridden it to work several times over local roads and interstates. It is fantastic. $5500. Photos available to interested parties. Near Pittsburgh. Perfect for Tod¡¯s event in September! Locked What to do 6
Supposedly on Thursday, I will receive both my 74 and 76 R90s. It has been almost 7 years since I have last seen them. The agreement for my 65th birthday was to have the 74 Restored and I would give the 76 to the mechanic. Called the shipper, and he ferried both bikes to Washington State where the Mechanic started a new supervisor job and a dealership. His vision was to have time during the evening and weekend to work on them and it would take a year. One year led to another and another, another move back to Az, another date promised. Another job change, another date promised, and more sad stories. Now, the restoration now sits in boxes of parts, the engine case is painted black, and all the new parts are not so new any longer. I haven't seen the bikes since they rolled into the shipper's truck, plus boxes of parts. A threat earlier this year to report them stolen now has built a fire to get the parts back to me this week. It was supposed to be last week. I have lost my passion for the 90s, at 74 my riding years on a 90s is no longer possible. I have a Heinrich and a regular tank, freshly painted. The cockpit, fenders, and 3/4 seat are all painted. I weighed my options. Sell as a package, build on, and/or part out a little at a time.

Locked Bike suddenly died 4
76 R90S I took my R90S out for a ride, started up just fine, warmed-up, choke off and away I went. Once I was a few minutes underway I turned the lights on and the bike immediately died and instrument lights went out. I immediately flipped the light switch off - all of this happened in a millisecond - the bike caught, instrument lights came back on. I turned around and went straight home. Pulling into the garage, with the bike running normally, I turned the light switch on and the bike died, lights out. I flipped the light switch back off but now the bike is completely dead. No instrument lights, no anything when the ignition is turned on. I just got the bike on the lift and will be looking at it later today. I¡¯m hoping that someone here might offer some clues. I know I¡¯m providing minimal information and it could be many things but I¡¯m looking for guidance on where to start. To add, a few months back I replaced the clutch switch at the handle. There¡¯s a post where I asked about this. On my ¡®76 the clutch switch was wired into the connector board inside the headlight. The only replacement switch available has a female connector and plugs into the harness outside the headlight. By cutting the female plug off and using connectors I plug the wires into the connector board exactly as the previous switch was installed. Following that I rode the bike 2-3 times, short distances, no problem. Looking back I am pretty sure I DID NOT turn the lights on. I¡¯m thinking this has something to do with my replacement clutch switch and the light switch but I¡¯ve no idea what that could be. Again I know this isn¡¯t offering much in the way of symptoms and electrical problems are in a different league of their own, but any suggestions would be helpful.

Would someone chime in and tell me which year and/or model of mirror this is? Identical to the ones on my 77S but without the adjusting nut. ¡® Thanks

Locked Determining Value of an R90S 5
Hey Guys After a whole lot of sole searching, I've decided that it's time to let my R90s go to a new home. I'm the original owner of this bike. It is 100% original. Mechanically it is in great shape and I have just had the carbs rebuilt. Cosmetically, the biggest flaw on the bike is a nick in the paint on the top of the gas tank.(See pic of the top of the gas tank. The bike has 18,425 miles on it. It comes with a set of Krauser bags which I purchased in 1977. At this time I was hoping the group could give me some idea as to the value of my bike. I've seen restored bikes out in the market, however I'm not sure how to comp those prices against an original. So any feedback on a realistic market value would be appreciated. Thanks... Tom

Locked Throttle twist grip assembly 3
After greasing up the twist grip inner workings I can¡¯t seem to get the placement of the twist grip correct. I end up with a lot of slack in the twist grip before engaging the carbs. Ive identified what I thought were marks for lining up twist grip gear and cable gear but this still leaves a lot of slack in the twist grip. What am I missing? Thanks Scott

Locked Storing an R90s gas tank 5
I¡¯ve been able to procure a SS gas tank. While the exterior is a little rough, the interior is almost pristine. I¡¯d like suggestions on the best way to store the tank for 6 months or so with the aim of keeping the interior as is. Thanks for your suggestions. Scott

Locked Replacing Clutch switch - questions on connectors 5
I¡¯m replacing the clutch switch located at the lever on my 76 R90S. The existing clutch switch has a brown wire and a brown/yellow wire that go into the headlight shell and plug into the connector board using female connectors. The clutch switch on my 77S has a plug instead of the female connectors and plugs into the harness outside of the headlight shell. The only replacement switch I can find has the plug connector. My plan is to cut off the plug, feed it through the headlight shell, crimp on the female connectors and plug it into the connector board. Few questions¡ Is this the right approach? Type of female connector and a good source? Do I just use what I can find at local hardware store? Is this a stock set up? Everything I found on the web showed it set up like my 77S. The switch and wiring all look original

Locked Running question 16
Happy New Year All, So I¡¯m going to do my best to describe an issue I¡¯m having (and have been troubleshooting with my trusted mechanic) to get opinions, which may help in the process of elimination. At highway passing/overtake speeds I get a hesitation or hiccup type problem, usually above 55 mph, also sometimes feel starved at idle at stops, which seems to get worse the longer the engine is running. Strangely, it¡¯s feels quite powerful and runs great around town though. Transmission & clutch fully rebuilt, plug gaps, timing (with EME electronic ignition), and Delorto¡¯s balanced and needles checked, all new fuel lines also checked, compression is fine too. Advice really appreciated if you have any, cheers! Chris

Locked Museum Display for AACA , Hershey, BMW CCA, Greer SC 4
I request your help in spreading the word! I have been contacted by Rob Kain & Spencer Myers asking me to assist them in gathering a collection of significant vintage to contemporary BMW motorbikes to be displayed at a special 100th BMW Motorrad Anniversary exhibit next year at the AACA museum. The bikes will be needed for approximately six or seven months at their museum in Hershey, PA. I plan to bring a couple from my collection and I really hope some of you will step up and do the same. Please contact me at your earliest convenience. I'd like to hear what you have to offer. Your assistance is great appreciated! Also, Jackie Jouret & Rob Mitchell have contacted me regarding a display at the BMW CCA/MOA museum in Greer, SC for next year called: BMW Motorbikes a Century of Innovation. They requested and I have agreed to loan them one of my R100RSs and a R65LS motorbike. I also agreed to supply one of my R80 G/S motorbikes, most likely the Gaston Rahier PD. BUT, that means I have some work to do finishing the restoration on my G/S PD. it's almost winter, not the best time of year to do the work I need to do, but when push comes to shove, I can get it done, especially when there is a fire under my ass. Now, that being said, if someone has an already completed and well presented R80 G/S or PD they would like to offer, please let me know soon. Here's the deal: the bikes should be transported for delivery to Greer SC between the dates of Jan 30 and Feb 15th 2023. The bikes will be on display from May 2023 to Jan 2024. The bikes need to arrive well before opening ceremonies to be photographed for a special publication. I can transport the motorbikes in my enclosed trailer, so that is not an issue. They are planning on having pretty snazzy opening and closing ceremonies with well known special luminaries. It looks to be a good time. Jackie Juriet is the author of around 10 books and will be writing another book covering this exhibit. Is seems as though it's going to be an extensive display of BMW motorbikes and motorcars. I hope some of you are able to attend this event during the upcoming year. Your thoughts and comments are welcome. Happy Motoring, Todd Trumbore motorrader@... Delaware Valley BMW Riders
