Great Information guys!?
After this and all the other great feedback I have gotten; I am leaning?towards something like the 9X60 and likely mounting it near the main eye piece with a counter weight.? While I do like the idea of being able to stand on the ground, I think I prefer
using the shroud (precluding clamping on a truss pole) and my thought process has me alternating between the finder and the main trying to locate my subject.? I have no plans (i.e. money) to add the DSC so I am doing it the old fashioned way
?. ?

My friends in San Diego have a 25 and a 20. Now that they have DSCs they use those
most of the time. But I recall when my friend was using a Celestron Comet Catcher as a finder!
Of course that was a Classic so there was more surface to mount things on (the mirror box).
I used a 9x60 finder on my 18 inch dob for years and found I could get a decent balance and it went
pretty deep. If I could not get within a degree and then use a 31mm nagler I was pretty much lost.
But you can see how on the UC something like that gets heavy enough to cause Alt Clutch slippage
if use goto. Thats a few pounds way up there. Which I why I liked clamping the 9x60
down on a truss pole. I could A) not affect balance and B) stand on the ground if using it.
Being only 170cm tall, many objects are too high, and its a pain to find out you have to move the ladder further.

Yes, The dove tail mount base is the same. Stellarvue also offers a "raised" version which I use on my 11" scope to get above the upper OTA ring. Both bases shown here. On Sun, Oct 18, 2020 at 1:08 PM Netscape via <P21932=[email protected]> wrote:

开云体育Thanks Matt, that distinction is helpful!? Do they/you use a common mounting dovetail style base or rings? I’d prefer to just mount one on my 20” Classic On Oct 18, 2020, at 9:08 AM, Matt Orsie <orsiem@...> wrote:

Re: Archives
Hi Chris,
For 19 years, the Obsession group, like many others was hosted at Yahoo. Then toward the end of 2019, Yahoo announced that essentially they would no longer be supporting the posting of user content to their Yahoo Groups domain. Some astronomy groups re-established themselves on Groups.IO, including this reincarnation of the Obsession Group. I believe that Groups.IO may have offered a migration feature where they could suck the data out of a Yahoo Group and re-deploy it on Groups.IO forum. This group didn't appear to take that option. However, the good news is that a snapshot of the database of the original Obsession Group exists and it contains a wealth of posts but it has not been re-hosted as an archive at this time. So as far as discussions about your Obsession, you are at the right place right here. :) The Argo Navis Users Forum is hosted on Wildcard Innovations own web site where hopefully it provides them with more surety of user contributed posts going into the future. Is there another group?? I just found this one and like it. Chris On Mon, Oct 12, 2020 at 11:32 PM <wildcard@...> wrote: I have a SQL database which was an archival snapshot of the original Obsession User Group hosted on Yahoo. |
Re: Archives
I have a SQL database which was an archival snapshot of the original Obsession User Group hosted on Yahoo.
It includes the first post made on 3rd June 2000 through to the last post on 5th October 2019. I also have databases of posts from the original Argo Navis and ServoCAT Yahoo groups as well. At some point we hope to host those three archives. However, it will entail a considerable amount of time and work to do that, so it won't happen today. :) The current Argo Navis Users' Forum is here :- The current ServoCAT Users' Forum is here :- /g/ServoCAT Best Regards

Uploading photos and making an album
开云体育Am I missing something obvious? I am viewing through my smartphone, so maybe that is part of the problem, after looking at the "manual" for groups.io, I don't see an intuitive way to upload photos or make an album easily here. It looks to me that the photos section is supposed to be populated by attachments only? Not a way to create an archive. ?Anyone?-Roger

Groups. We’ve compiled a that includes alternative providers and information on how this will impact your group content." Regards, and clear skies #1138 20"
