2 instances of HRI Visual Studio version on one Win7 computer?

Hi Howard is it possible to run 2 instances of HRI Visual Studio on one Win7 computer? I am presently using 2 computers to control an IC M710 and an IC M710RT with HRI Visual Studio.

Thanks Tom KC1GTU

OK,

Good to see that is working on de CLONE port. I use the D-sub because there is also audio in and audio out on this connector.
It uses two 600 Ohm transformers??to make a connection to? a cheap usb soundcard.

Hi, dear Rene,
Thanks for your reply.
1) COM ports are correct.
2) I set the COM port number on the set menu of the radio. All are the same.
3) D-sub is set on the set menu. I use DSC out at the back side of the radio.
But no way.
I did this;
I just use TX and GND outs of the USB-toSerial?connector and I connected those to CLONE port at the back side of the radio.
Now it is working.

Hi Kaan,

I checked the Icom IC M710 address , its 01, not 02, but 00 works on all models.

hi there!
I have M710 and there are two serial out on back. I connect my pl2303 based usb to serial cable to the dsc out and run HRI software. I set the radio address as what is shown in the set menu of the transceiver then click to start. It seems everything is ok on the software side, but there is no ¡°remote¡± message on the transceiver screen, and nothing changes when I try to change frequency on the software. I also tried with ch340 based usb to serial cable but no way.
I need help.

Hi Kaan,

1)

Have you selected the right COM port?number? in HRI?, check with Computer management, Device Manager, Ports,COM port number

2)

Choose address 00 ( works with M700 Pro, M710, and M710 RT? or 02 for the M710

Choose the COM port, which you have checked in 1)

3)

Is the d-sub-9 serial to USB?connector connected the? Remote d-Sub connector at the backside of the M710?

4)

Is your interface set to the DB9 port on the IC-M710?

you can check with:

<func> + <1> + <power> on

Menu REMT - IF ( choose with the left?Group Channel selector Knob)

interface d-Sub or Pin, choose d-Sub

then power off, power on

Good luck,

Rene, PA7R

Re: Communicating ICOM IC-M710 with PC thru N3ZH

No, NO flow control is added in the latest software. Unfotunately, I am just not able to get my IC-M802 to communicate with the PC. I am using a CH340G with Flow Control PCB for the control Cable.

Just wonder if there are any scheme out there to help homebrew a CAT Cable with Flow Control.

Re: Communicating ICOM IC-M710 with PC thru N3ZH

I am not sure when Flow Control was added.
In Settings Window, Radio, there is "No Flow Control" which can be changed to "RTS/CTS" if your radio needs it.

This flow control settings appears to only be in the Visual Studios version of HRI.

Re: Communicating ICOM IC-M710 with PC thru N3ZH

Also I am using the March 17 2017 test version of HRI Visual Studio with an IC M710.

Re: Communicating ICOM IC-M710 with PC thru N3ZH

I am running the HRI Windows Visual Studio version with an IC M710. Howard N3ZH worked with the Russian guy in previous topics on this group to get the HRI Windows Visual Studio version working with the IC M802. I do not know if Howard added the needed serial port flow control in the Java version of HRI. What version of HRI are you using?

Tom

Re: Communicating ICOM IC-M710 with PC thru N3ZH

Thanks Tom, I'll check this up. You have given me hopes.

Just one querry ? are you using it with a Serial to USB interface ?

Re: SEA-235 support

Thank you for the response. I think for now I will stick with my emulation approach, where I set-up fldigi to Ray 152, then use Python to do the conversion. After spending a couple of nights tweaking it, it seems to be working quite well. I will continue testing and cleaning up the code. Once satisfied I could share the python file with the group and I believe it would be fairly easy to make the change.

Thank you again,
Vassil

You might have better luck looking at old posts on the yahoo group.

Re: Communicating ICOM IC-M710 with PC thru N3ZH

Hi Charudatt

Check the topics in this group from March 17 2017 and back to the beginning.
Your IC M802 is rs232 with flow control.
I am using the Windows Visual Studios version of HRI

Good luck

Re: Communicating ICOM IC-M710 with PC thru N3ZH

Hello Aiko Love del Rosario

That IC M710 DB9 Remote port is not an RS232 port. It passes Rs 422 data and modulation and Rx audio signals. You would be better off buying a USB to clone pin programming cable. Get an IC M710 manual and read topics on this group from March 17 2017 and back to the beginning that talk about HRI and the IC M710.

Good luck

Re: HRI VARA P2P?

Hi Tom,

I do not know anything about Vara.

Looking at the author's website

It appears that Vara is used by RMS Express.
RMS Express is a very good free software product for winlink and P2P which supports many radios including the ICOM marine radios.

What advantage you will have if Vara is added to HRI?

Howard

I am also trying to communicate my IC-M802 with the computer, any information will be of great help to me.

Thank you.

Re: SEA-235 support

Vassill,

I can see the possibility of adding the SEA-235 radio to the visual studio version of HRI. I would feel better if there were dozens of people asking for it.

Adding a radio which I do not own is a long tedious job. There will be dozens of test versions which will not work. I recall with the 710, I would often have to wait days for the tester to go to his boat to test it.

There have been cases in the past where someone wanted a radio added, but would not put the time necessary.

You can email me directly at Howard_Z at Yahoo.

Howard
