Meeting went well. We're looking at postponing the July meeting a week to see if Whil Hentzen could attend, and having our Brewers game outing in August sometime. We put a date out there but that didn't work out for Stein so I'd suggest he counterpropose.

Who'd be up for a Brewers outing instead of our normal August meeting? We're thinking this game since it's early and folks can get home at a reasonable hour.

Amazon had a 1-day sale on the high-end machine for $650 so I went ahead and ordered it.? I’m not using this for a gaming machine so assume I can ignore the overclocking options.?
I? would think Cliff could give you some thoughts on Lenovo as I believe he's? had a lot of experience with them. Since you only do this every eight-ten years, like me,? I'd suggest you go with as much memory and storage space available. After all, as the ad on TV says, ....? you're worth it!
The specs show:?
Max. Boost Clock -Up to 4.3 GHz
Base Clock - 1.8 GHz
Does that mean you have to overclock the system to get to 4.3 GHz.?? I've seen systems where you don't have to manage overclocking to get the most out of them. I personally don't try to mess with manual overclocking as I don't know ramifications of the changes I could make. My experience with a screwdriver in one hand and a carburetor in the other has taught me to never let the two meet. If it can be screwed up, I will find a way immediately.
Here's a link that tries to untangle M.2, PCIe, NVMe ....

Sorry guys, was up north with the brother fishing (Vilas Cty). So
I think that 24GB would be enough RAM unless you want to run a
couple virtual machines at the same time and I don't believe
windows can multitask that well. I am personally a bit nervous
with SSD over 1TB. i don't see a lot of negatives other than no
wired network. I just set up an IdeaPad 3 for a client - Intel 5
(4-core) w/24GB RAM, touchscreen and opted for win10pro. This was
a VERY SNAPPY system, and I am actually partial to AMD
processors.?
I think this would be a fine system and 100GB should let you
store a couple hundred albums, 500 e-books, 50 audio-books or so
and maybe a dozen movies. Another 100GB is another 50 movies or
so. Other than the movies, I have that on my phone. The only other
thing I would do, OF COURSE, is blow of the windows and install
Linux Mint (or Ubuntu if you don't mind SNAP).
Just make sure you put the Murder Bot
Diaries on the new system (I've got a bunch of other audio-books
if you're interested, including a bunch of Tony Hillerman).
I? would think Cliff could give you some thoughts on Lenovo as

Overhead lines where completely removed. They under-grounded the
power all the way up the driveway to the pedestal and then onward
to my farm shop. Our house was only out of power for 1/2 hour ...
the farm shop and my printing building was without power for 7
hours.? I went out and mowed my lawn during that time. It seemed
like the right thing to do.
Drilling
horizontally is certainly a lot less disruptive than digging
a trench.? How long were you without power during the
switchover?? I take it you still have overhead lines up to
the point where the power pedestal is buried?? Did you lose
your yard light in the process?

I'm open to live streaming or I can drive over ... either
way.
From what the maps look like, I think Cliff and Stein would
be most impacted? by the weather.
We got a puff of wind a couple of Sunday's ago and it broke
the power pole on the farm off. Alliant Energy decided to bury
power to our farm rather than replace the overhead pole ...
You can see pictures of this here: Replacing
overhead power with buried power
