Re: screen editor

i think i determined that screen4 is the only one that has any chance of working. if i could just figure out how to use it without making a total mess and or crashing i could do the few changes i need. last night i tried it on an xp machine on which it runs faster but the display is not high res making it difficult to deal with the screen that has to be scrolled. the program crashed a few times and then crashed windows as well and had to re-boot.

are there instructions on how to delicately use this program without crashes? how to select items etc? i can not get it to work on win8.1, at all. is it supposed to?

I've always used Screen4 on an XP machine and never had any speed issues at all.
Screen4 is very particular about how you do things, and it's very easy to create a total mess. It can take a lot of trial and error to get an understanding of the best way to do things.

Most people prefer MachScreen, but any time I've tried it, I've always had issues and went back to Screen4.

Subject: [mach1mach2cnc] screen editor

i can not find a screen editor for mach3 that works. when starting the
original mach screen i get an error that machscreenreadonly.dll is
missing ?although the program does load. i can not find any reliable way
to select screen elements. i am constantly selecting the entire screen
and can not pick out individual elements. mach3screen and screen4 are
total messes with the display very different from the actual screen.
elements overlap are displaced and stuff is there that should not be on
the screen at all. i have tried running each editor on an XP machine and
also on a win 8.1 machine. on the xp machine it is so horribly slow that
i do not have the patience to use the programs especially since i have
to constantly save and restart the programs as they crash and some times
make horrible messes that can not be undone with a single undo.

what is the best editor and what OS is needed to run it? i only want to
make a few changes and have spent hours so far accomplishing nothing.
