I read the story of that raid - quite extraordinary lengths to go to, when the whole awful mess could have been avoided if the government had been on its toes instead of on its taxpayer-subsidised booze! ?

It was the Falkands war & it was refeulled by Victor tankers. They didn't have enough fuel to make it back to Ascension Island:
"The commanding officer said do we go on?"
"All the crew said we go on!"
This was the Professionalism of the RAF!
Andy Macknap said ?in their Chinook:

Well a Chinook is a flying schoolbus. It can carry a lot of weight! But it is agile & as monouverable as crap!
