Hello Denise:

To delete entries from the Outlook Contact list (address book), press Control+3 to change the view to see your contact. Now, using the up and down arrow keys, find the contact you want to delete. Then just press the delete key.

I have deleted old addresses and replaced them with the new address.

When I send an email, it comes back undeliverable as it went to the old address that I deleted.

I check and it is as I think it is – the correct address is there and I cannot find a trace of the old address anywhere.

Can you help with this?

Hello Jean:

?

The old email addresses are probably coming from something Microsoft calls their auto completion list (sometimes called a cache). The following article describes the operation of this list. There is a way, using a mouse, to remove individual names from the list, but I have not found a way to do this with a screen reader and only a keyboard. However, you can also delete the complete contents and let it learn again. This is also described in the below article.

Hello,

Thanks for the response. This keystroke does not do anything. It works for calendar, notes, to do and mail. But nothing for the address book. I’m using JAWS 2020. So do I need to press a pass through key to get to the address book?

Hi Jean,

If the Auto completion is what you are referring to, try the following:

When you start to type the e-mail address and you hear the one you want to get rid of, press Shift + Del key to delete that item from the cache. That works for me and I am using Outlook 2016.

?

Let me know if that works for you!

?

Thanks,

Mario

Vow, this works; thank you.

I had been looking for a way to delete addresses from the auto-complete list as well.
