HI all,

?

I’ve particularly noticed this recently – it seems like since recent versions of JAWS 2025. It is also hard as it is to find a pattern.

?

but acknowledging Brian’s valid comment, I’ve not tried it with NVDA or Narrator, but it seems so intermittent that if I go to one when it happens, I’m not sure it would replicate and I don’t want to have to use those screen readers very long to see if it might happen.

?

I realize this is possibly at the risk of not solving the problem, But I might see if when it happens it is a more complex email structure, I didn’t think of that.

This has been an ongoing problem (that I and numerous others have experienced) for months/years.? I’ve tried many things to resolve the problem, but to no avail.? Unsure if I previously reported the issue to Vispero, I decided to do it now…just sent a report about the frequent silences after opening certain messages in Outlook, and also inquired about Outlook locking up/freezing; typically requiring the program to be removed from the Task Manager.? JAWS may not have anything to do with it, but couldn’t hurt to ask.

Have you had the same issue when using either NVDA or Narrator for the same messages?? That is a first pass diagnostic to decide whether the fault lies with the JAWS screen reader versus Outlook 365.

?

If you can't replicate with a different screen reader (or even if you can) this needs to be reported to Vispero/FS Support.? They'd need to know if it's only happening with JAWS, or with JAWS and any other screen reader or screen readers.

[WinAccess] Outlook 365 junk emails entering my inbox.

?

Hi Group,

Not sure what has changed in Outlook 365 or outlook but spam emails always went into my junk email because only people in my contact went to my inbox.

But now spam emails are coming into my inbox. When I go to report as junk in the menu on the email and press enter. The emails goes away but comes back the next day in my inbox. I don’t seem to be able to keep them out of my inbox now. So I am assuming some setting has changed. Anyone have any suggestions as where I can go to make sure only email contact go into my inbox?

I did try the access info newsletter and others from MindVault Solutions.? With NVDA, same thing happens, the speech tends to stop for a bit, then start up again a few seconds later.? It happens on this 13th gen Intel processor, so if you’re planning to get a new computer to circumvent this issue, don’t bother!

It's not that auto-update in M365 never auto-updates, but the checking is not nearly as vigorous as it is with many programs that check for, and will apply or nag you to apply, updates each and every time they're started.? I don't know why this is, but it's been this way for as long as I can remember in Office and M365.

How often should you check for updates? I really hope Microsoft will improove the auto update feature as it's so nice having it in other programs.

I don't think Microsoft has modified the menus.? The default menu can and does get longer, and a "More options" option appears, if the end user has fetched additional add-ins (and, possibly, for other reasons based upon end-user configuration choices).
?
After hitting Alt + F, here are the entries in a completely unmodified Word 365 File Backstage View.? I have included a blank line where the separators are for the sections:
Home
New
Open
Share
?
Get Add-ins
Info
Save a Copy
Print
Export
Transform
Close
?
Account
Options
------------------------------
If you have anything in addition to those twelve, including a "More Options" rather than just the Account and Options items, it is because some end user customization has been done that adds menu entries.? I also checked that the above is true on my partner's computer under Word 365, as he's entirely tech illiterate and relies on me for any changes, so no changes have been done on his M365/Word 365 or I would have done them.
?
I am using precisely the same release of M365 you are, but have never done any customizations that trigger any changes to the File Backstage View.

Indeed, not for me either. This has been the case since approximately early September. They have modified the menus slightly, so now you need to press Alt plus F, navigate to More Options, expand that, then go to Account, and finally to Update. After that, the process remains unchanged. I have repaired Office to ensure everything is in order, and the process has indeed changed on my system. Microsoft? Word for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2412 Build 16.0.18324.20092) 64-bit.

Microsoft Word follows the same keyboard shortcut conventions for Zooming that most web browsers do:
Ctrl + Plus Sign? - Increase size (zoom in)
Ctrl? + Minus Sign? - Decrease size (zoom out)
Ctrl + zero? - Zoom to 100% (actual size)

using Zoom in Word with the keyboard

Chat GPT tells me that control and the plus key will allow someone to zoom in in a Word document and control minus will zoom out.

Is this true; I can’t verify myself with Jaws but this is for a blind customer who needs to zoom in and out as needed in Word to have someone check his document.

Thanks.

Re: Can I Migrate Outlook Account Settings to a New Computer?

Chris,
?
Yes. And if you're an M365 subscriber and intend to use the same Microsoft Account on the new machine as the old one, it's easier than ever to do this.
?
Here's what Perplexity.ai has to say (and I have checked that the noted checkbox under General Settings exists, and I checked it long ago, though I believe it's unchecked by default):
Q: Can Outlook 365 email account information be stored in the cloud and imported into a new Outlook 365 installation on a different machine when the same Microsoft Account is associated with both?
?
A:?
Yes, Outlook 365 email account information can be stored in the cloud and imported into a new Outlook 365 installation on a different machine when using the same Microsoft Account. This is made possible through the "Store my Outlook settings in the cloud" feature3
. To enable this feature:
? ? Open Outlook on your current machine
? ? Go to File > Options > General
? ? Check the box for "Store my Outlook settings in the cloud"3
Once enabled, your Outlook Microsoft 365 account settings and preferences will be stored in the cloud. When you set up Outlook on a new device using the same Microsoft Account, these settings will automatically sync across all your Outlook for Windows clients3
. This cloud synchronization includes:
? ? Email account settings
? ? Preferences
? ? Signatures
? ? Quick Steps
? ? View settings
Additionally, your emails, calendar events, and contacts are already stored in the cloud with Microsoft 365, so they will be available on any device where you sign in with your Microsoft Account6
. For files and attachments, you have 15 GB of free Outlook.com email storage and 5 GB of free cloud storage shared across OneDrive, Outlook.com attachments, and Microsoft 365 apps1
10
. If you need more storage, you can upgrade to a Microsoft 365 subscription, which provides 100 GB of space1
. By using these cloud storage and synchronization features, you can easily transition your Outlook 365 data and settings to a new machine without manual data transfer.
?
Direct link to above search, if you want to look at the references that are scattered about as just plain numbers in the quoted text above:

Can I Migrate Outlook Account Settings to a New Computer?

开云体育

Hi.

?

I’ve had an Office 365 subscription since 2016. I just acquired a new used laptop with Windows 11. I haven’t yet signed in using my Microsoft account.

?

Once I do though, and run in the Office installer to grab the various applications, can I then migrate my Outlook settings, including my three email accounts, from my desktop to the new laptop?

One account is from my ISP, and the other two are both Gmail.

I’m hoping I can somehow back that up to the cloud from the PC, and retrieve it on the laptop, or perhaps copy a folder from one machine to the other, similar to how you can transfer Firefox profile s between machines?

?

Thank you for any suggestions.

Then one of two things:
1. You're doing something wrong.
2. You're using a version of MS-Office that predates Office 2019 (possibly 2016)
?
Alt + F? ? ?File Backstage View
D? ? ? ? ? ? ? Account
R? ? ? ? ? ? ? Update Options
U? ? ? ? ? ? ? Update now
?
The sequence is present in the 365 versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook Classic.? I literally just checked in all four programs.? I believe that I used this same sequence in Office 2016, but no longer have that to test with.
