Correct, hence the reason for my first sentence, which reads: ?This should probably not hit most of our members here, but it's important to know, particularly if you know anyone using very old versions of Outlook (2013 or earlier) or any very old email client who has used it to access Google Mail, Calendar, and Contacts.

The quoted passage from the announcement for Google Workspace Admins takes it on faith that those in such a position know that this does mean "old versions," and, in this case, I'd say very old versions.
?
If you have anything even kinda-sorta recent, and you've set up your Gmail account on it then you were probably walked through OAUTH upon initial setup.
?
I posted this mainly because I know that there is a subset of our readership (or their friends) that likes to do what I call "clinging to the corpses of long dead technology."? If you were using any email client that's ancient enough not to support modern authentication methods for Gmail, you won't be doing so anymore.? I'm anticipating a flurry of, "Why can't I access my Gmail?," questions on multiple blind-tech-centric groups in the coming days and weeks when people who've tried to stick with, say, Outlook 2010 or Windows Live Mail are suddenly, and permanently, locked out.

Great!? I knew that you could un-ignore "one by one" if you knew all the subjects you ignored, but that didn't seem to be something I thought you would be likely to do because your initial post said, "selected a bunch of emails," and I jumped to the conclusion you probably didn't know all of the things ignored.

BTW, if you want ignore things from Groups.io, I strongly encourage you to use the "Mute this Topic," link.? If you do, you can unmute anything you've ever muted on the Groups.io website, and will then receive any messages that might later come in for the topic(s) you unmuted.

Microsoft Outlook: Updated behavior for switching back from new Outlook to classic Outlook for Windows
A notice in the M365 Admin Center for M365 Business admins, but it's clearly happening for M365 Personal/Home too:
?
Microsoft Outlook: Updated behavior for switching back from new Outlook to classic Outlook for Windows
?
Coming soon: We will change how users switch back from new Microsoft Outlook to classic Outlook for Windows to make it easier for users to simultaneously use classic Outlook and new Outlook. When this will happen: General Availability (Worldwide, GCC): We will begin rolling out the default behavior to keep new Outlook minimized after a user switches out of new Outlook in mid-May 2025 and expect to complete by late May 2025. General Availability (Worldwide, GCC): We will begin rolling out an option to open classic Outlook without switching out of new Outlook in early June 2025 and expect to complete by late July 2025. How this will affect your organization: Before this rollout, if users switch from classic Outlook to new Outlook, they must switch back to use classic Outlook again. After this rollout, users will be able to use classic Outlook without switching out of new Outlook. When users select the toggle in new Outlook, they will have the option to open classic Outlook or switch back to classic Outlook.
? This change will be on by default and will not change existing settings or defaults for your organization. What you need to do to prepare: This rollout will happen automatically by the specified dates with no admin action required before the rollout. Review your current configuration to assess the impact on your organization. You may want to notify your users about this change and update any relevant documentation. #newoutlookforwindows --

Narrator inconsistent in how it reads negative numbers in Excel for Currency and Accounting Cell Formats
First, let me note that this inconsistency is not exclusive to Narrator.? It only gives no indication at all of the fact a number is negative if Currency format is used and the cell format to show the value in red if it's negative is selected.? If the format includes the leading minus sign, it is correctly read as negative as it is if either of the parentheses enclosed formats of he Currency format is used.
?
For Accounting format, the parentheses enclosed option does not directly result in the number being declared negative, but the presence of the parentheses is announced and for those familiar with Accounting format this is a clear indirect indicator that the value is a debit/negative value.
?
This issue extends to JAWS and NVDA as well, with each of these screen readers being less reliable than Narrator is in regard to negative numbers not being reported as negative depending on the visual formatting choice that was made.? I suspect that all of this is tied together based upon what is being exposed by Excel to the various screen readers, but I can't be sure about that.
?
But anyone who uses Excel, and particularly for spreadsheets where money is concerned and either Currency and/or Accounting formats are used, will encounter issues with not getting accurate information for negative values far too often.
?
Here's the Feedback Hub problem report I submitted:
?
If you're someone who works with Excel and with monetary values in particular, you might want to upvote this problem and/or add your own additional comments.

Re: EDGE will not share to Classic Outlook but wants to install New Outlook
Milton,
?
I suspect you are going to have to change your practices.? I understand what you're saying, but even on my computer I cannot force Edge to use Outlook Classic anymore with the Share option.? And to make matters worse, even when New Outlook is opened to the edit window for a new message, the URL is not carried over that you've activated the share option for.
?
Part of what Perplexity.ai said is this, and I believe they're correct:
----
The "Share" feature in Edge may prioritize Microsoft's own apps (like Mail or Outlook) for direct integration. For some third-party email clients, sharing may not work as seamlessly, and you might need to copy and paste the link manually.
----
?
What they recommend is precisely what I'd do.? In the context menu for the link instead of selecting Share I'd choose Copy link instead, and then just go to Outlook Classic, create the message, address it, and paste that link in.? That's actually what I've been doing when sharing links from any browser via email, regardless of the email/webmail client.? I always copy the link (regardless of its source) and then paste it in to the email message I've created, titled, and addressed, adding specific information in the message for the recipient about the link being sent.

Brian,
In Microsoft EDGE, if I click on the share icon, a popup screen appears with a number of app that can be targets of the share.? Outlook is one of the targets.? A target is an app to which information is sent, and which receives the shared information.? Until, recently, clicking on Share and then Outlook in the popup caused the current URL to be sent to Outlook.? If Outlook was open, then the URL appeared in the message of a new email.? If Outlook was not open, then Outlook opened and a new email containing the URL appeared.??
All references to Outlook so far are to Classic Outlook which I use.??
Nowadays, when I click on Share, and then click on Outlook on the popup screen, I get another screen offering tom install New Outlook which I do not want.

It seems that most people are asking about going back to Outlook Classic from New Outlook these days, and the corresponding toggle button that once appeared in New Outlook to switch back to Classic no longer exists.
