Control+y has never failed me. You cannot be in an open message when you want to use Control+y. I hit escape to close a message, then if I want to change folders I use Control+y. I'm using Outlook

- I do not even understand what you're asking.? There is no Office 2025, and even in Office 2024 or M365, the actual program version numbers have not ever had the year number of the standalone

Thanks Brian. I ran the DISM tool with the switches you prescribed, and it got stuck on 62.3% After 15 minutes of no progress, I finally alt f4ed out of it. Should I be nervous, terrified, or what?

I've always usually gone into Notifications settings in Windows and disabled the Show Notification Banners checkbox. Search for Notifications settings in the start menu and then in the dialog there

You can disable that in the sounds settings under program events. Choose none for sound file. You can find this under control panel.

I still get the notification even though everything is already unchecked except for playing a sound when a message arrives.
