Thank you for the explanation. I don't think
that 'recursive' is really the right word, because it means
'going backwards', whereas the desired action is 'going
downwards' in the folder hierarchy. I'm not sure that there is
an English adjective with that meaning.

If that is fixed in 24.1.*, that is good, but it won't change my
practice, because I will continue have all the old versions of
LTspice installed, and have well over 2,500 "personal" symbols,
which is why I evolved my way of listing symbols. It works
satisfactorily across all versions and all platforms.
As an aside, I never use hard links, because in Linux file systems
at least, deletion of a hard link deletes the data on disk, unlike
soft links.
