Tanner closing
Matthew Carr
Rhett is closing up his towing operation a little early this year.? Right now, his last day at Tanner is planned to be either this Thursday (10/21) or this Saturday (10/23), depending on the forecast.
?
I will post when a final day has been selected.
?
If you have any equipment at Tanner stored in the Dragonfly hanger that you want to take home for the winter, this would be the last chance.? Gliders stored in the new hanger can actually be picked up any time.
?
Kind regards, Matthew Carr |
Re: Brace Mountain report
开云体育Looks beautiful Dean, this was the most enjoyable mountain to fly because of the shape and flying it in south west windsTom On Oct 3, 2021, at 6:16 PM, Deane Williams <pyroartist@...> wrote:

October Club Meeting
开云体育Our October club meeting is this Tuesday October 5th at 7pm. Forecast is a little sketchy so we will meet at George’s Pizza unless someone wants to host at their home. The primary topic of the meeting: I want to plan a parachute clinic - both deployment training and chute repacking. I believe this is an important topic and would appreciate your input in planning. We will also be welcoming a new club member.? Contact me before Tuesday night if you want anything added to the agenda.? Greg |
Re: Brace Mountain report
开云体育Very nice, Deane. Thank you for the update. I’ve never been up there. I hear it’s an amazing place to fly if you can make it up there with your equipment.? Greg On Oct 3, 2021, at 18:16, Deane Williams <pyroartist@...> wrote:
? Donna, Doug and I took our dog Riley for a long hike on Friday. We walked in to Brace via the top road. ?? Amazing but it is still the same as 20 years ago. Someone has maintained the trail. It is not overgrown. The bridge is still in place and solid. Must have been upgraded at some time in the last 40 years. Originally Tim and Ben Davidson built that. The cus were only about 1000 feet above the top and there were about a dozen turkey vultures ridge soaring in the NW breeze. The paraglider pilots have maintained the launch slot in good condition and it is even a bit wider than it used to be. The hike is about an hour long to get up there. The rocky climb is the worst part. Can’t believe we used to carry our gliders up that. ? Deane ? ? ? ? <Deane and Donna.JPG> <Doug and Donna.JPG> |

Re: Instructor Clinic
开云体育Steve, in addition to the two day clinic you are also required to do a 40 hour internship teaching students under the supervision of a licensed instructor. But Paul seems to be willing to work with me on that and allow me to apply time I have spent teaching as an observer, like when I taught Justin how to foot launch. So does an attendee receive full instructor certification after the two days? Are you attending?
