Re: SX-62 FM respons
Scott
If I understand it correctly, the 62 uses only the 10.7 IF’s for the high 2 bands, but it can do AM as well as FM on those bands. Maybe it is possible that it is processing the FM as AM using slope detection, perhaps due to a dirty contact on the selectivity switch. As a comparison, with a FM station tuned in using FM, what difference do you get if you then select AM ? |

Agree on the R-42 Reproducer. First I ever heard was in the shop of W3HM, Howard Mills, a couple of years ago. Wonderful. It was hooked to my 51J4 at the time - not famous for "hifi audio" - but it sounded great!
What Hallicrafters radio was the R-42 originally introduced for? I have no idea. The SX-62?

Re: SX-62 FM respons
开云体育The SX-62 has a fairly delicate output transformer that is sensitive to
bad coupling caps in the output stages, sometimes you will find one half of the transformer open.
If you get a chance to evaluate the radio before purchase, you can test
for resistance to the plate pin of each of the output tubes. With a bad transformer the audio will be weak, or dead.
