Temporary Owner

I started a Basic (1G free space) group for a small group of Dodge enthusiasts. My intention is to designate one or more individuals as owners. Then I will unsubscribe and rejoin under a different email address. Because I created the group
1. can I unsubscribe?
2. If I unsubscribe, will it destroy the group or somehow inactivate it or cause it to not function like normal?

As long as there is an owner, you can unsubscribe. But why not just change your status ((demote yourself) and your preferences, and your email address? Why bother unsubscribing?

As francis said... why leave and rejoin using a different address? In fact, why the apparent rush to stand down as owner? If owner appointees are inexperienced they are likely to need active guidance, i.e. by intervention, so until the group is working satisfactorily why not remain as owner with others promoted to "moderators with full permissions" to make sure they can settle in properly?

As Frances and Chris said, it's a good idea to stick around for a few
months while the new owner (co-owner) gets used to things, so you can
be there if he or she needs help.

I started a group for Yaesu FT-757 owners because there was some
interest even though I don't have that model of ham radio. I got one
of the members to agree to becoming a co-owner with the intent for me
to unsubscribe from the group eventually. So far it has gone well and
it's not a very active group, so it's easy for the other person to
manage.

I need to unsubscribe because the group was created with my yahoo email address. I don't want to have to log into? yahoo just to view these messages.

As I said in my previous reply, the group was created with my yahoo email address. I don't want to have to log into yahoo just to view messages from this group.

I have no interest in running this group. My?? attachment to it is not that strong. I intend to remain as the owner until the? new owner or owners? know enough to run the group. It is pretty simple to run.

Just change your email address for the group on your Accounts page. (top right corner of the Group homepage.

You can go to the account tab, and change your email address. Just as a another option.

While you're sticking around to help the new owner(s), you can change
your email address for the account.

Leave the group when you feel the owner(s) no longer need training
wheels.
