are the transferred members and messages still visible on Yahoo Groups

Hi, I am getting ready to transfer a large group.? I am wondering when the members get transferred, are they still a member on the yahoo group they were transferred from?? Or, are all the members completely transferred over and I will have a group with no members on Yahoo??? The same question for the 70,000 messages we have there.?? Is this "transfer" actually a copy and the original group stays the same until I delete it (which will be soon after)?? Thanks

"Transfer" is a misnomer.? Members, messages, files, etc., are copied to Groups.io.? Your Yahoo group remains intact and unmodified.

Many of us have keep the Yahoo group as an archive reference, changing the settings to not allow any new posts there, and including a pointer to groups.io in the Yahoo group's home page.? Of course, after Dec. 14th, all of that Yahoo content is supposed to disappear anyway, eliminating its use as an archive.

Claudia,

Is this "transfer" actually a copy and the original group stays the
same until I delete it (which will be soon after)?
That is correct.

The transfer agent makes no changes to the Yahoo Group. It only reads and copies information. Please browse GMF's wiki for plenty of info about doing the transfer, including this page:

There's really no need for you to delete the Yahoo Group.

In earlier times I've advised leaving it there as an archive of its content, with its home page acting as a billboard advertising your "We've Moved" address at Groups.io.

The archive part of that will become moot in another month, if Yahoo follows through with its plan. In the mean time you can use the Y!group's control panel, Access Control tab, to remove member's ability to post new messages. Or, use the Moderation tab to put the group on moderation and use the reject with reply function to remind the members of the new posting address at Groups.io.

But the billboard idea may survive, if Yahoo does as it says and leaves in place an ability to find Yahoo Groups. My guess is that they'll leave the home pages of groups, and the directory:
