If they're NC, they shouldn't, nor should they have access to any group information.? I've had a few cases where there was an NC account, but closer inspection revealed that they'd made a typo and later joined with the correct email address.? If you're sure it's a good email address (or maybe even if you aren't), you can select that member record, scroll to the bottom, and choose the "Send Confirmation Email" button.? That will send them a new email with a link to confirm their address.? If you find that it was a typo situation, just delete that member.? It should be noted that Inviting or Direct Adding someone will bypass the need for confirmation. But she received the automatically sent questionnaire and answered it. The address is correct. So I did as you said and sent "confirmation email". I hope this?ll work. Thanks. Victoria |
I'm having a similar issue. I'm switching over from a Mailman list for my organization, so I invited all the members to the new list.
Some members claimed, even after resending the invitation several times, that they never received it and couldn't find it in spam. (Email address is correct). So, I asked some to just go to the main group page and "apply to join this group" themselves, which some did. Now, I have two members who are "not confirmed" and I've tried the "Send Confirmation Email" multiple times. They also claim to not be receiving THOSE emails. I can't send a "new" invitation because they've already been invited, only re-send invitations. Both of the problem email addresses are Hotmail addresses, but I have others with Hotmail email addresses who managed to accept the invitation just fine. At this point, I could try deleting them and starting fresh again with new invites, but I'm not sure that I should expect anything different to happen this time. Any suggestions? Is there something else the NC could be signifying that I'm not thinking of, but can fix on my end? If someone applies to join the group while currently having an unaccepted invitation, does the system reconcile the two and add the member? Just not sure the best way to proceed here. |
Sarah, Some members claimed, even after resending the invitation several times, that they never received it and couldn't find it in spam. (Email address is correct). I believe that the Invite page tracks delivery failures. So if Hotmail had actually rejected the invitations those would be listed with some form of failure rather than "sent". Which makes it mysterious why the invitees don't find the invitation, not even in Spam. I don't know Hotmail, is it possible that it would deliver to a different folder, such as Trash? So, I asked some to just go to the main group page and "apply to join this group" themselves, which some did. That should do the trick, for any of them that receive and respond to the confirmation email sent by Groups.io Is there something else the NC could be signifying that I'm not thinking of, but can fix on my end? No. It means simply that they haven't yet confirmed that they own the address and want to join the group (by receiving and responding to the confirmation email). If someone applies to join the group while currently having an unaccepted invitation, does the system reconcile the two and add the member? No. The system will treat the application separately. If your group has Restricted Membership it means they should show up on your Pending Members list. An invitation bypasses the approval step, so if they accept the invitation they go straight to the Members list. Accepting an invitation also confirms their email address and their desire to join the group. That should do the trick, for any of them that receive and respond to the confirmation email sent by Groups.ioThat's what I figured, but these members are receiving neither the invitation in the first place, nor the confirmation emails. I have removed the members from my group and sent fresh invitations, but do I have to worry that, from a Groups.io-wide perspective that their accounts are considered to be NC? I wouldn't assume that removing them from my particular group suddenly removes any larger groups.io properties, so I don't know if now their email addresses are "known" and perpetually flagged in the larger system. Now that I've removed them, I can no longer try to resend confirmation emails again. (Which by their accounts they weren't getting anyway.) Just to confirm my understanding of the process: ?If (and this appears to be a big if at this point) they are able to accept my latest invitation, will that automatically confirm their groups.io account? It would seem that my best strategy is to get these people signed up with as few emails from Groups.io needed as possible, since they can't seem to find ANY of them. That's why I initially chose to invite, to cut down on the interaction required. I just want to be sure that, for these NCs, this will be sufficient. Thanks for your help, Sarah. |

Mindspring and Earthlink have been blocking groups.io recently, so that may be a factor (Ref:?). Regards, Bruce -- The system Help is your friend.??/static/help |
